from SI.com C Houston Rockets Losing Yao Ming yet again is naturally the central drama to the season, but it was revealing how unsuccessful the limited-minutes experiment with him was before he went down. Coach Rick Adelman's post-Yao strategy has been to try to run a high-powered offense with the likes of Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Aaron Brooks, Chase Budinger and floor-spacing center Brad Miller, and balance them with quality defenders such as Chuck Hayes, Shane Battier and Courtney Lee. The result has been offensive fireworks and horrible defense. GM Daryl Morey has rightly been praised for stockpiling assets, and if ever a team needed to trade quantity for quality, it's the Rockets Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20.../19/midseason.grades/index.html#ixzz1BcDH89lq
Indiana and GSW better than us, we beat GSW twice (IIRC) I better wait till what does ESPN.com/nba have to say (if they have a mid-season report)
Reading that was depressing. Who was the pundit who predicted before the season started that we would have 35 wins only and we got upset? Well, it seems that guy knew something we don't, because we are on our way to a worse season than last year. How could that be? The injury to AB really hurt us. Last year, we had the bench led by Lowry playing superbly. Nowadays, our bench is a hit-or-miss affair. The bench plus AB is not consistently producing. As a result, the starters are getting no help at all. The deep line-up is causing RA problems as he tries to balance minutes. Better if we take away RA's options so he could use a set rotation. I think Ish with the 2nd unit would run better. That means though I'm willing to give up AB as well as CB so that TWill can play. Last year, CB played better alongside TA or SB; he really needs someone to cover his weak defense. It's time to try TWill.
If only it were true, that the Rockets were on pace to get only 35 wins. Then, the Rockets would have a crack at a top 10 draft pick. As of now, they are treading water around 0.500. They will probably draft 12th-14th spot again.
Don't really care about these garbage grades, stats have Rockets in the middle of the pack. That's where they'll probably end the season, I'm guessing 40 wins.
This is getting ridiculous -- why is there a category for defense and not for offense? I don't care about all the hackneyed tripe about defense winning championships. You don't win any game that you don't outscore your opponent.
No because then he couldn't say "blame Morey", which is stupid anyway. Way too many people on this forum have no idea what the word "injury" means, it's pretty sad.
he said we are trying to avoid being a lottery team for the 3rd time in 4 years......... False! We were in the playoffs 3 strait years before last year.
Carl Landry is only included in the bench grade. Looking at it again though, it seems that they changed the way they categorize players, allowing bench players to count twice this year, both in the frontcourt/backcourt grade and in the bench grade. Maybe next year they will expand it so multi-position bench players can count in the frontcourt, backcourt, and bench...
