Steve Nash is a different guy. He's one of the all-time great shooters who might be a better passer. He was raised in Canada and chose hockey over basketball. He plays in perhaps the most conservative state in the country, yet wears his liberal colors proudly and sometimes loudly. One more thing: His championship window in Phoenix is all but slammed shut, but he hasn't asked to be traded to a contender. The rest of the article is here: http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/shaun_powell/11/09/steve-nash-trade-scenarios/?ls=iref:nbahpt1 What do you guys think? I mean, the guy IS old, but he can still ball. High risk - high reward.
Nash WILL get moved, the Suns are medicore at best and the moves they made this offseason will only keep them a float. If the Rox stay in contention, Yao is showing progress and AB continues to struggle/complain, pull the trigger and make the move. I don't see him in NY because that would all but kill Melo's chances of being there. The Thunder intrigue me, they are just waiting in the weeds, just waiting for the right time to strike it BIG.
I would love if Nash came to this team. If only for the fact that, he can teach Lowry and Smith how to be better PGs. Also, imagine Steve Nash running with our second squad. Nash throws an alley-oop to Lee. Nash AOs to Budinger Nash AOs to Hill Nash AOs to freakin' Brad Miller.
I'd love to see him in rocket's red. Granted he is older than brooks, but he is just a good shooter if not better and a mvp playmaker. I'm not so sure brooks seems to be in the rockets long term plans (lowrys big payday and ish's emergence). I'd love to see the ming era come to a close along side on of the best of the decade. really a likable dude
The reason I put this in the NBA Dish instead of the in the Rockets forum, is because I don't see the Suns handing Nash to a fellow WC opponent. In the article, it lists the Magic and the Hawks as possible destinations. If Nash heads to one of these two teams, that particular team automatically enters "Who will reach the Finals, from the EC?" scenario.
I can see them doing this but if the Rox or Thunder make them a deal they can't refuse, they have to pull the trigger. Nash's deal ends after next season and if they are rebuilding they won't matter for 2 or 3 years anyway. Also, consider they want draft picks because they are going through financial issues and who has a nice collection of picks???
you dont trade a young star for an old one. i dont think nash would make the rockets contenders anyway. our problems are largely defensive.
That would be an optimal rosy outcome. Probably true . Assuming a Melo-to-Rox trade will not go down, the notion of trading for Nash seems attractive, if we can also pick up a defensive presence in our starting backcourt. That may be a better team, and less of a salary obligation, that the Iguodala trade possibility.
If they decide to move him, do you think it'll have to include Turkoglu? If they are rebuilding, I would doubt they'd want to keep his contract and they really don't have any other way to get rid of it.
i would think it would have to include both Chase and Hill if they are gonna give up their star they will at least want some local Arizona kids to sell to their fan base
Would you do that? I'm thinking it over. If they really think Yao's good to go this season and through the playoffs, I think you make the deal. His contract is short.
