Yeah, it's fine for that role. The point is that Rudy is the more dynamic player with similar shooting ability. Between the two, I go with Rudy.
I agree. Rudy also quicker, better ball-handler, and better one on one player. He runs around screens and picks better and he can get up like Bud too. But this back and forth thing can go on forever.
We wanted to draft him in 07, but the blazers got him from the Suns a couple picks before us. I think he would be a really nice fit on our team as the backup SG. There are minutes there. He only makes 1.2 and 2 mil over the next two years. This is getting more interesting.
Again, why trade Chase, for another role player, when another year of seasoning will only increase his trade value? Sure, it's possible that his game could decline, and lower his value, but there's no reason to believe that's going to happen. Buy low and sell high, not buy low and sell a little less lower. .
...or don't trade chase and have rudy cover the 1 & 2. if portland still lusts after battier maybe the rockets can even wrangle the rights to a big man in freeland as well?
Battier for Fernandez/Pryz would be ok with me. I don't know what all the hate is about. Fernandez moves without the ball tirelessly. Plus he's got a great shot. Should be fun to watch if he lands in Houston, especially in Adelman's 'motion' offense
If you didn't know Pryz is probably done. I think it's a long road for recovery for him..... that's if he ever makes it back at all.
yes!! yes!! yes!! yes!! omg yes!! now all we need is a backup like shaq or brad miller and were pretty much a championship caliber team. and we let hayes go. brooks/lowry martin/fernandez ariza/battier/budinger scola/hill/jeffries yao/shaq or miller heck, forget bosh, signing shaq or miller would give us so much flexability to trade, we have a sexy young core with: brooks, lowry, martin, ariza, budinger, hill, and fernandez and a good veteran core of yao battier shaq or miller and jeffries plus battier and jeffries make really good trading assests with those 2012 picks.
Can we temper our homerism for Chase Budinger? Holy Hell, you'd think he was some kinda almighty basketball god if you've never been on this BBS. Okay on to Rudy..... Rudy is a good player but unless Morey's master plan is to acquire him to entice/trade for Rubio to come it's not worth it. You guys remember when Luther Head played semi decently for us in his sophomore campaign? Well that about sums up Fernandez's game. Lack of handles, fragile, hesitant to do much overall but looks amazing when he catches fire. My hopes were about as high as they could get for Rudy during his rookie year up until Ariza ****ed his world up. He's never been the same. He's fragile, injury prone, moodier than a teenage girl going through puberty and the positives just don't outweigh the bad unless we magically get Rubio. Can't we all agree that we've had enough with players who just aren't tough both physically and or mentally as well?? Both in Rudy's case btw. For people making Rudy comparisons with Drazen Petrovic that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Rudy is not going to magically get traded and start averaging 20 ppg while shooting over 50% for his career as a 2 guard. Furthermore, he's not going to develop a killer instinct, heart, and handles by moving to a different city and putting on a different jersey. Maybe a city in Spain but sure as hell NOT in Houston or NY or any other US city for that matter. This coming from a Rudy fan who's followed him before he came into the NBA and watched nearly every single one of his Blazers games.
signed, Sarunas Jasikevicius but seriously....didnt rudy have a problem with coming off the bench and his minutes? Are we going to get rid of battier AND ariza? I'm sure many will like that, but my point is how likely is that? Either Rudy is being used as bait or he better understand he's a role player in this offense. and what's up with Kmart to rubio comments? Why is Minny going to give up on their possible franchise PG for the next decade and a half for a very good, but not franchise SG who's in mid prime? It's like Golden State trading curry for Arenas... besides, Morey has been after martin for a while, why give up such an efficient scorer for a streaky scorer like Rudy? Rudy's a good pick up, but he's not replacing Martin.
Rudy is a nice bench player/6th man but I'd have to believe we'd get more for a 14th pick, especially with Morey in charge. Rudy's back problems this past season worry me as well.
Did we forget this part of the rumor? "No word yet as to what the Rockets may have offered. Then again, Houston seems to pop up in nearly trade rumor that ever gets leaked, leading me to believe that this may be nothing more than GM Daryl Morey calling the Blazers to check in on Rudy for kicks. If there’s a team that likes to work the phones whenever possible, even if it's just to say 'hi,' it’s the Rockets."
