You guys are funny, the 14th pick generally is not anything special...and usually is no more than a role player. If we get Fernandez, I would imagine it would be to flip him for something else, or gives us the ability to trade Kmart or Cbud...etc... DD
Rudy would be great in our offense. Morey had preferred drafting this guy over Aaron Brooks a few years back.
Fernandez is a pretty good bench player. On the surface though I don't like this move, he only shot 38% from the field last year, and doesn't appear to be an upgrade over Budinger. However I don't think the wizard would make this move unless he had another move to go with it, if fernandez is here, that means one of our 4 swingmen has to go.
There has been a history of Fernandez loving on this board for two years now. There just has. You're right though, im surprised how the tides have turne on this thread.
I don't know why some of you are bashing Rudy. Depending on what we have to give up, I think Fernandez would fit nicely here, especially with his contract. We could have great depth with Fernandez, Lowry, and Budinger all coming off the bench to fill the wing. This means more rest for Martin and Ariza. Also, last season when Lowry went down, we really suffered without a back up point. Fernandez could play some minutes there. It would also be great if we could get Fernandez AND Przybilla from Portland. Take care of the Center need, too. Though, I don't know what kind of package could get that done.
Seconded. So far the highest pick we've ever had under Morey was 24 (which incidentally we traded also). I wanna see for once what kind of lotto player he can pick out for us. Of course this means I probably won't get my wish since Morey is the king of draft day blue balls.
Can't understand why anyone thinks #14 is better than Rudy. Yes we need a backup C, but Rudy provides the depth to make a trade.
I would trade the 14th pick for him. I don't see anyone who will be there helping us any time soon, might as well.
People seem to have forgotten how Rudy thrashed Team USA in the gold medal game a few years ago. Dunked all over Dwight Howard and was hitting threes all over the floor against the likes of Kobe, LeBron, and DWade. The guy is a player and he's only 25 years old. Our offense fits his style of play as well.
definitely. Portland has completely misused him as just a spot up shooter. He can run the floor, shoot, and pass...would be good when we try and run AND when we go through Yao. I'd have to think if we got him though this would be so we could trade away Martin. Morey must be thinking Fernandez along with some more CBud could replace Kmart's production, and Kmart could be a good trade chip to upgrade at the power forward spot (big al? bosh?) Not sure how good a Rudy/Brooks backcourt would be defensively though.
Here we go. Rudy the "role player" vs Team USA. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YkWHR_cTB14&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YkWHR_cTB14&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
