Rudy is a cold blooded shooter with hops. This guy is easily worth the 14th pick. Playing in Portland has screwed up Rudy's confidence. I don't know what we do with Kevin Martin and Rudy unless Rudy is going to be a sixth man super sub type player. Martin gets hurt all the time anyway so he'd be high quality depth. Maybe Morey is moving KMart to Minny for Rubio and then snagging Fernandez from Portland to entice Rubio to show up.
He's better than anything they can get with the 14th pick. He would be a perfect fit on this roster. He would be the back up SG, which currently is Taylor. He could also run the point if one of our PGs goes down with an injury like last year.
I would take that scenario if they could get the #22 on top of Fernandez. There will still be some quality bigs on the board at #22.
Why would anyone want an old Elton Brand over Big Al Jefferson? We ain't getting the 2nd pick for taking him so you can just about forget that. But Rudy is a good player and would be great to have but a lot of other things have to go down for it to work out here in Houston I think. I don't think he'll be that much happier playing here off the bench behind Martin cause if I'm not wrong, I think I remember him saying he wants to start and have more PT last season.
I remember Girsten Rosas saying that their pick at #14 is coveted because still considered lottery pick or something to that extent.
That makes sense cause Oden will be back for them next season and they will be log jammed at the Center spot with him, Przybilla and Camby (if he returns). Only can see that happening if Camby returns doh but would love the trade.
Since the Rockets are over the cap, they would have to include a player in this trade. Since Fernandez makes less than $1.2 million, it wouldn't really have to be a rotation player.
They had interest in Ariza last off-season. Rudy's a lot better than most #14 picks. He's just in a tough spot playing behind Roy. I'd consider Andersen and #14 for Fernandez if Morey's target is not available. If they want Ariza, even better.
I can't believe some people actually want Rudy Fernandez on this team, especially since the Rockets already have Chase Budinger. Fernandez is soft, mentally weak, has an unwarranted sense of entitlement, and has a tendency to disappear during the post-season. No more trading lottery picks, even it's the 14th pick, for role players. Just draft a big man with size and athleticism even if he's a project.
Yeah, I don't think he has a lot of value. Fernandez is definitely a moneyball guy on his contract. Ariza, Andersen and the #14 for Fernandez and Pryz? Maybe. I think just being able to get out of Ariza's contract is a big plus.
WTF? I think you misread the topic. There is no love for Fernandez. The original post is simply showing us the NBA.com article. Furthermore, majority of the subsequent posts have said they do not want Rudy. What love are you talking about? Yes, there's still a lot of Rubio love on CF though.
