Jason writes beautifully. He is overqualified to be a sports writer. The way he words things are unmatched in this field of sports journalism. Good read. Thanks.
dude i agree with some of the stuff you say but do you have to taint the board with your anti lin crap in every single thread? give it a rest already.
Respect Morey: Jason, you have to write a nice article on Lin. Coach Mac didn't tell me he was going to start Bev in Philippines! Stern called me to ask me to do something. Jason: You want me to write a heart-felt article on Lin? Morey: Yeah, make it convincing. How about the time when Lin gave you red Nikes? Didn't you call me one time to disclose the potential conflict of interest? Jason: Yeah, I did. You told me to forget about it and not mention it to anyone. Morey: Yes, but I take it back. You have to mention it now to show what a wonderful guy Lin is. Jason: What does that have to do with the fact that Mac didn't start him? Morey: I don't now, but we have to do a damage control, especially now Stern is on my case. Jason: OK, you owe me one, because I haven't written a heart-felt article in long time. And it's hard to make it convincing. Morey: OK, I will throw in 4 tickets to opening game for you. Just don't sell them; have your parents and family come. I am counting on you. Jason: Forget the tickets. Just give me a raise.
It does kinda; but in all the time I've been reading him that's the nicest thing I can remember him saying about a player as a person. "He's really a great guy" is his normal limit.
Response Most Lin fans do not believe Lin is an All-star, but they believe if given a chance, he COULD be an All-star.
I can't think of one Lin who said that he should be the main guy here. Most don't even think he's an all-star either. I am a huge Lin fan and do think that he has all-star potential (well, even Morey said the same upon signing him). At most, I've seen Lin fans say to start him and let him handle the ball like a PG so that he can set up Howard and Harden to score all the points.
I can understand the irrational love for Lin, what I can't understand is Tinman's irrational preference to live and recreate the 90s and Carl Herrara's irrational love for Patrick Patterson who had never been someone of significance. But what I'm saying is, everybody has some irrational viewpoints. It's just that Lin is so unique he attracts fans from across borders and non-basketball fans. It is what it is. At least I find it understandable more so than track
Continued ... Than tracking TRob vs 2Pat vs Jones/DMo when we got Dwight Howard. Or reminiscing about guys 15 years in retirement when we've actually got a team to root for this year.
plus, doesn't mind having an interesting writerly exchange with a fan either <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/drportland">@drportland</a> I wish I were better at metaphors & could casually bust one out like you just did. LOL, nice one! I like Friedman, but this story is odd to show up now. Every people know he is a nice person. Glad to see I'm not the only one who are curious. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/AdultKidsVent">@AdultKidsVent</a> several things. And since we are in Taiwan, the time seemed right for a good J-Lin story.</p>— Jason Friedman (@JasonCFriedman) <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonCFriedman/statuses/388701078117572608">October 11, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
