Bumping this thread, because I don't know if anybody noticed, but on the actual nba.com page, the link attached to "regarded as a defensive stopper" sends readers to Clutch's very own report, located here: http://www.clutchfans.net/news.cfm?newsID=1221 Didn't see it mentioned, so I thought I'd post it. I don't know if nba.com has ever cited clutchfans.net as a source before, but regardless of whether this is a first or not, it's still very f***in cool! Congrats to Clutch for kicking ass as usual!!!
Holy F, that's a great find. Clutch, did you know about this? This is certainly a change from the "cease and desist" letters from the NBA!
What does it matter? When your vertical gets up to that range, it's all the same. It's like the rest of us playing on an 8 foot goal. I can dunk against guys a foot taller than me on that goal, and it don't matter if they can jump an inch higher and their wingspan is 10 inches more than me. Because the goal is so low, I can fake them, and put it down. It's the same thing for all these guys with high verticals. Somebody like Francis or Head can take the ball to the rack against somebody like Lebron, not because they can outjump them but because the goal is only 10 feet high and when you are in the air that high, it don't matter. It's a matter of having the skills to get into the dunking position. 38-39 whatever, Head is athletic and can get up in the air with plenty of hangtime.
Good find! Very subtle. Great to see ClutchFans.net cited as a source. I think it should happen more often. I think Clutch's articles are some of the better ones on the net. It is a nice balance of fan enthusiasm with a balanced journalistic eye. Good reads!
