Agree with this just want to add Jonas Valanciunas probably the best rookie right now . When you look at his efficiency and points per possession , kid gonna be the beast . Yes Anthony Davis is kinda first overall pick and everybody very high on him in the states , but he not so efficient as JV and getting much more touches, but i like him too, they both are much better than Lillard for sure.
the question is "should", so.. i too think Kobe will probably make team 1. but he's clearly outside the first two teams imo.
Because I think a MIP should well, improve. Not just be given a bigger role and put up more production through it. Don't get me wrong, I love Harden, I just think it should go to someone like Vasquez who really did turn himself around.
Oh, I forgot Thibs. He's done an amazing coaching job this year. Right now they have no Rose, Deng, Noah, Taj Gibson (and Asik/Brewer from last year) and still they are battling and staying competitive. I guess I'd still vote for Vogel but I see Thibs as an equal candidate, both have done very well despite injuries / major roster holes.
Hibbert definitely has a case. He's by far the most important piece on the arguably best defense. He's not someone that would work as well on every team and system but as far as the Pacers system goes, he's close to perfect. I'd still give it to Marc Gasol. Mainly because Hibbert plays 28 minutes a game and Gasol 35.
ROY: Anthony Davis has often been injured and thus his production has not been as much as anticipated. But he has proved that he can have a big impact on both ends. That's the definition of a future legit franchise player. Lillard can't guard a can and I fail to see as much upside in his game as Davis. DPOY: Oh, the center anchoring the best defence in the league is not a serious DPOY candidate? MIP: Should go to Harden but since this is a jinx award, I prefer it to go to some player that I love to poke fun at, namely Thabust.
Yet some here consider Tyson Chandler as better than Gasol and that Marc is not near superstar status, hell most do not think that he is as good as prime Pau who was a garbage defender.

ROY: You can't base it on "potential" production. We all know LeBron is the best player in the game. But if he was injured for as much as Anthony Davis was, is it right to give him the MVP award? Absolutely not. DPOY: You do realize that just because he's the 5 on the best defense in the league doesn't auto make him the best DP? Paul George, I think, should be considered over Hibbert. This isn't a real thing, but playoffs / Finals DPOY is probably going to be LeBron. Dude just turns it on and beasts it when it matters most.
In a vacuum, George is the Pacers' best, most talented defender. But that system is built around Hibbert and the defense generally looks much worse without him. Hibbert has flaws but he's the motor of the team on defense. If this is "the best defender in the league" award, I think Paul George has a very strong case, he's probably the best perimeter help defender and one of the best man defenders. But if this is the "biggest impact, who's done the most on defense this year?" award, then I think Hibbert is more deserving. But in the end i think Gasol has the best combination of talent, impact and games/minutes played. It's hard for a wing to win DPOY. Especially in this advanced stats era where everyone sees how important a big man can be for team defense.
The impact of a 7ft+ super athletic rim protector like Hibbert is far greater than a perimeter defender. Perimeter defenders rarely are awarded the DPOY award because they are not tasked with preventing the high % shots in the paint, Cs and PFs are. That Pacers D is built around and caters for the strengths of Hibbert, everything is funneled toward him: he is the centerpiece. You could actually gauge the intimidation provided by Hibbert's presence to paint penetration against the Roxs, a team with two guards higly proficient at that. The best defender on a team is the one who has the most defensive impact, there are no other way around it. Hence Hibbert for DPOY!
You can't decide who is a better defender "in a vacuum". The proper way to go about it is to actually gauge their skills and impact in the only appropriate context, that of an NBA game.
