    An opinion piece from Hoopsworld.

This is so far from reporting that the final sentence doesn't even commit to the idea by going on to say, "it makes a great deal of sense for the Rockets to at least have a conversation with the Bobcats".

Which makes this piece nothing more than any of the numerous other 'trade' threads going on in the GARM.

    *shrugs*

There was an old thread about a month back mentioning him as a possibility. I would be ecstatic for Wallace to come here.

Unfortunately, this thread is about to get flooded with a bunch of talk about logjam at SF-PF/how he isn't what we need/Carmelo is better....while hardly anyone acknowledges the fact that Wallace would be an upgrade, period.

And we wouldn't be betting on being able to change an NBA players wife's mind or getting a team to sign and trade with us to get back assets.

I certainly hope that Morey and Les aren't that delusional.

And forcing him to stay would be disastrous.

Why does everyone say we have plenty of picks to trade away? Since we traded our own 1st in 2012 to the Knyts for TWill, we can not trade our own picks in 2011 or 2013 unless we aquire an unprotected pick for outright for ourselves in 2012. The 2011 pick from NYC is only a right to swap picks. The 2012 pick from NYC is top 5 proctected and won't be worth much of Melo goes there next year.

Heck our right to swap this year doesn't even look all that great right now.

Well if franchising is anywhere close to being considered it is a worthwhile gamble.

And what are all these extra first round picks people keep referring to?

For the sake of new conversation; Gerald Wallace would be a great upgrade in a two part trade.

Bring him over in conjunction with nene would be ideal. We have enough pieces to work for both of them I believe.

    Lowry/ish
    Martin/lee
    Wallace/Williams
    Hayes/Patterson
    Nene/miller

I wouldn't scoff at something down these lines.

Starting to think we just need to tame our expectations a little bit. Kind of been spoiled with two significant trades at the deadlines previous two years (Kmart, Lowry). Teams realize we are desperate and are probably asking something ridiculous in return, and Morey isn't budging. At some point though, we will have to move some players, and Morey will probably lose that hand.

You don't think other teams considered Morey desperate with $38Mil sitting on the bench in injured T-Mac and Yao?

Didn't seem to slip him up much.

We have three sizable expirings; with the uncertainty of
The CBA around the corner, some teams may want to hedge their bets
And obtain some cap flexibility as it boils down.

Morey has plenty to work with far from any notion of desperation, is my point.

No, because we were some games over .500, and other teams (Knicks) were more desperate to shed salary because of the big free agent class coming up.

    I couldn't disagree more.

I highly doubt the rockets received anymore respect last year than they are this year. It's the same story; Yao is injured on a mediocre Rockets team that will not make the playoffs, but is loaded in assets.

Morey could believe a franchise tag is coming.

Torn on Wallace, good player that would be an absolute upgrade but how much of an upgrade is the real question? It would be much like getting Martin last year but, again, without acquiring a center the move has minimal impact in the grand scheme of things. In the offseason, we could look at a center like Chandler or even try to outbid Memphis for Gasol and then this move would make tons more sense, its risky though.

Gerald Wallace should be plan B, after getting a center is plan A. Forget about Carmelo, he has an ego the size of his ugly ass bald-headed face, doesn't play good defense and we do not need a loner. We need someone who can stay, Gerald Wallace is on the way!

I would gladly like to see a Dalembert type for ......
    and Gerald Wallace for.....
Question is: who should and needs to be included to make it work ?

If anyone else had access to Hoops World check out the chat with Bill Ingram from this morning. It has some descent questions and answers on trade scenarios with Scola, Melo, Nene, and even Landry. Then come back to this ;)

The notion that the Rockets have all theses "picks" just shows that they have no idea of what they are talking about at Hopesworld. They have ONE first round pick in 2012 from the Knicks that they could trade and thats about it.

-Yao Ming's contract is the only trading piece they have that most NBA teams dont have.
