Dunk contest was way better than expected and yet Blake Griffin was disappointing.

Not how many people thought it would turn out.

But he can't. If he could jump high enough to do that, his head would be at the top of the white square, not the rim.

I'm not necessarily just going to hate on Griffin, but the dunk contest has clearly jumped the shark. The props have gone too far.

The problem is that every dunk that doesn't involve a prop has been done. If you take out the props, you have a bunch of warmed-over dunks we've seen before. There's a reason the rules and stipulations change every year the dunk contest. The NBA is tinkering to try to top it every year.

I hate to say it, but it might be time to go back to way the contest was a decade ago and deal with not having new dunks or shelving the thing altogether.

Was thinking that but the dunk contest as a whole last year was horrible not the case this year.

Griffin at least got the crowd up and expecting something. Shannon Brown was just flat out terrible last year.

Ya, I was thinking about that too. Like I always thought he didn't compete in the dunk contest cause he was afraid of being beaten by a no-name. Apparently that's impossible though so I don't know why he's so afraid,

This isn't the truth in the slightest. Go look up Team Flight Brothers on YouTube, and they are constantly doing dunks that haven't been seen anywhere near an NBA dunk contest.

NBA dunkers just aren't as creative as they say they are. They always say "i've got some things up my sleeve..." and then they either do dunks we've seen, or try new dunks and miss on the first 8 tries.

The hell for? This was very entertaining still and the props/hype were hilarious and great. This sh-t ain't crucial or life and death. it's just a dunk contest. Just entertainment.

    I like said last year

All Star weekend is no longer a PRIME TIME event for premiere TV scheduling.

Its best served as a weekend offering on ESPN2 for when you have nothing else to watch.

C'mon now, though Mcgee should of won, I thought this Dunk Contest kind of revived the competition. This was definitely better than last years. Hopefully next years can carry on.

Exactly. Take it for what it is, pro players giving the fans entertainment.

The media blitz and expectations is a bit much. No one has a problem with the college and high school contests cuz they're in the offseason and not built up as the landmark event of the decade

That dude with the Asian kid and the teddy bear was a really good dunk... Why didn't he make it to the finals?? Griffin winning it was a joke!!!!

You have to ask? You know how the NBA works you're a Rockets fan.

Blake's first two dunks were suspect; Hype pulled him int to the finals.
