An auction draft would have batches of players. Every team would have say 100 dollars to spend. You can choose how much you want to spend on each player. It would be very interesting if we could make it a blind auction where no one knew what the other bids were. Wonder what Lebron would go for.
99.93! hehe then just wait for the end of the draft and pick up 7 role players. it's an interesting idea. i'm not sure about logistics. someone would have to track the money because people end up sucking at math, some will overspend. also, this requires everyone to be present so they don't miss on players. it would work best if it's like 2 minutes per player, then 8 rounds / 12 people would take like 3 hours. But that's a logistical nightmare.
I would be willing to organize if I got a list of players. Divide them into 10 batches. Every bid for a player would have to be PM'd to me. I would periodically post the highest bid for each player. Every batch would last 1 day. I just would have to figure out how to do this all on Excel but it shouldn't be too hard if people are genuinely interested.
And these "batches" i guess don't have to be all similar level players. Like, 1st batch 20 best players, 2nd batch the next 20 best players, and so on. It could be mixed up. First batch: Kobe, George Hill, Chris Paul, Greg Smith, etc. Second batch: Paul George, LeBron, Lance Stephenson, Beverly, etc. Third batch: Wade, Dwight, Danny Green, Bargnani, etc. Or... on that thought. It could be just teams. First batch: any players from Heat, Orlando, Charlotte. 2nd: Knicks, Nets, Philly. etc. That would be simple and clear to everyone.
Yeah, there should be mixed batches. That would create more strategy. Would people end up spending all of their money too soon?
