Yeah.. can't compare Yao to dirk in this game, dirk almost single-handedly choked the game away for the west.
I thought Jesus Shuttleworth deserved the MVP in this game. Oh well so much for another all star game. Bring on the second half of the season!!
He didn't look terrible. He was typical Yao. Got beat for dunks three times (two on a break though). He probably coulda fouled Howard on that last dunk but he just let him make it, as you should do in an all-star game. When he actually tried to score he was 2-3, including faking the crap out of Howard on one play. Howard got a facial, gave up a fast break dunk and got scored on three times in a row to let the West back in it.
LeBron gets 27-8-9 on the winning team and all you people can say is that he only deserved it because he's the Golden Child. You guys are acting like he had 10-5-3 or something, please learn when to hate and when not to hate.
OMG!!! I watched the first half of the ASG and I couldn't take it anymore!! Let's face it guys... no matter how big of an NBA fan you are, you have to admit, the ASG BLOWS. I'd rather watch women's high school basketball than the NBA all star game. Props to Lebron and everyone else for making their wide open layups/dunks.
The 2nd half was better...starting with about 5 mins left in the 3rd Q. Shoulda watched it. Regardless, I'd rather watch people in competitive bumper boating than women's basketball...especially high school.
The reason I would have gave it to Allen is becasue he hit them clutch 3's at the end. If it wasn't for him they would have lost the game.
ASG is not very important... It's just for entertainment and the money venue... I wouldn't give a crap if the west lost by 50...
And on top of that the fans voted for the MVP this year. I love it when people act like David Stern or whoemever is the reason certain playes do well or get awards. Such BS.
Sorry I'm late to the discussion here, but... I'd love to go back in time, before the dunk contest, and argue with you guys that all the 2 or 3 foot jump hooks that a guy like Yao "throws down into the basket" should be counted as dunks. I'm sure you all would have agreed, right?! Well that's strange, because the NBA doesn't count them as dunks...so why should similar shots be counted in the NBA Slam Dunk competition. That's right, they shouldn't. Wake up and smell the semantics. You all know better. Don't get me wrong. What Dwight did was impressive, but what Dwight did was also not a dunk. And for those who say he should get a 50 anyway for entertaining/impressing, realize that it's a dunking competition that is won by entertaining/impressing...but the dunk is still requisite. I just can't get over the sheer number of people who are completely bastardizing the practical definition of a dunk because it's convenient. Probably the same people who would try and sue McDonalds because the "Very Hot" label on their coffee was too vague.
I went to dictionary.com and check the definition of a dunk shot: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=dunk shot#sharethis I think Howard's Superman Dunk fits the above description.
i disagree. no way is the release point of yao's jump hook as high. the ball goes up first then down in yao's jump hook whereas the ball goes down immediately after leaving howard's hand.
Fans voted Lebron MVP but CLEARLY Ray Allen was the difference. Anyone who takes 22 shots in All-Star game has a chance at big numbers Lebron James: 30 MINS 12-22 FG 27 PTS Ray Allen: 19 MINS 10-14 FG 28 PTS Ray Allen could have easily went for 40 if he played 30 minutes and took 22 shots. pw3nag3 of Dirk legitimizes James MVP though
