What was so great about this contest is the fact that they usually made the dunk on the first or second try. The birthday cake, for example, was risky because if he blew out the candle without making the dunk, then they had to get the ladder and light it again. Same deal for Dwight's last one. Also adding to my enjoyment was the level of danger. McCants sitting on the top rung of a ladder with a guy flying towards him was pretty risky. Same thing for Green doing a between the legs dunk without shoes, and Dwight almost hitting his head on the board. Just a great, entertaining show tonight.
Sprite SLAM dunk competition. Just the word "dunk" in itself implies some kind of impact. If your hand doesn't even touch the rim, it's not a dunk... anybody who has spent a significant amount of time playing basketball knows this.
Yes, he was a punk for throwing the shoes off the table. That was in extremely bad taste, and I hope they never invite him to judge a dunk contest again. I know you think he's a kid and all that, but have some freaking respect. That was an utterly classless move and the lowlight of the entire evening.
haha... are you serious, man?? Have you listened to the other unedited versions of soulja boys songs?? He is ALWAYS 100% degrading. "Superman" is used as a euphemism for a sexual act. And I hope I souldnt have to explain what "hoe" means. Soulja Boy also has a song in which he says "Pimp slap that Hoe" repeatedly,, nuff said
The Definition of A DUNK is TO SCORE BY THROWING THE BALL THROUGH THE RIM WITH THE HANDS ABOVE THE RIM! - Dictionary
I can't believe people are b****ing about the Howard Superman thing - the fact that he threw the damn ball through the hoop from 4 feet away is what impressed me most...despite the b****ing it still "felt" like a dunk...and looked just crazy awesome. I haven't been that amped up since 2000 for sure.
I thought it was more disrepectful for a no name player to take off his dirty shoes sign a meaningless autograph and then put them on display in front of some of the greatest athletic achievers of our time. I thought it would have been even more appropriate if someone took those shoes off the table before he even dunked, but after he was finished it was even more appropriate to put them down. Darryl was like a father figure saying take those shoes off the table.
lol yeh that was pretty classless by Darryl Dawkins. But then again he's not known to be a very classy guy. He seems pretty arrogant, I'm glad he never won a championship. And Dr. J is the definition of class. BTW to all the people who said Dwight's superman "dunk" was a real dunk....would someone who jumps from the three point line and peaks somewhere near the FT throw line then throws the ball down through the basket from there be considered a "three-point line" dunk?
I thought the same thing. That was a stupid move by Green. It would have been better if Green had donated them to someone in the crowd.
I understand that some geek pulled this out of an actual dictionary,,, but if you asked, for example, every member of my 15-player high school basketball team(and just about all of them can dunk), every one of them will tell you that if you don't even touch rim, its not a dunk.
TMAC&YAO=RING HATER???? NOOOOO Quoted for truth. I thought it was the best dunk ever until I saw the replay. It was still a great dunk, and this is what I expected from Dwight last season. He still should have made it to the second round with the sticker dunk over Nate's maybe maybe no dunk. Don't hate on Howard. Moon had a few nice dunks, but that >free throw line dunk that never happened is what's making you guys so antsy. Don't blame Dwight, he put up a good show. Everyone wanted to see that Goon dunk it, but it never happened. He better post it on Youtube tomorrow if he wants to redeem himself.
