Yao does plenty of shots where he throws it straight down(basically every jump hook), so I guess he is a pretty proficient dunk artiste...

It's called the slam dunk contest for a reason.

All I ask is that he touch/grab the rim a bit. I thought that was to be expected....

Yeah i don't know what is up with Kenny saying that. I liked Dwight's performance and all but the cool thing about that superman dunk was the costume, not the actual dunk. I wish he would've done the kiss-the-rim dunk that i've seen him do.

Yea that made mad too. And whats even worse they got to see the replay and it clearly wasn't a dunk. He wasn't even a little short he way short.

gerald was all right but for some reason didn't have the showmanship that Dwight had. Rudy disappointed. Moon had a chance if he didn't put that tape down and get everyone disappointed.

I guarantee that if he didn't put the tape down he would have gotten at the very least 1 extra point that would have put him in the final round.

BTW, how can you be a conservative Christan and love the song "Crank that" at the same time?

Nothing but self-promotion and over hype. They all play their roles by pimping the league, which is fine. But it starts getting really annoying when Kenny and other idiots start calling non-dunks "top 3" of all time.

    Negro please II

u have to understand EVERYBODY can dunk basically nowadays considering the athleticism of guys in today's game.

what will separate you in the dunk contest is creativity.

i think dwight's superman dunk wasn't even about the dunk. the fact that he was creative, and actually looked liek superman flying in the air (he was in the air for a LOOOONG time), was ABOVE the rim at his peak, and jumped WAAAAAY early and STILL made it.

can we just congratulate a guy? he brought the arena down. and that's the main thing: make fans enjoy the event again.

this is the only time of year where players can just focus on the fans, not winning games... let them be.

    Alright, let's break it down.

Dunk #1 Self Oop from behind the basket

Some have mistekenly said that this dunk has never been done before. The fact is that the 6'6" Andre Iguodala did it 2 years ago in a much more fantastic fashion. Here's the proof:

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w6z9-l4hnMM&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w6z9-l4hnMM&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

    Dunk #2 The Superman Dunk
The most impressive thing about this was the Superman props. He didn't even make it to the rim. He had to throw it through or he would have been rim stuffed. I could put on a cape and make a ferocious layup.

Dunk #3 Mid-Air Backboard Tap to Self
This was his most impressive dunk of the night. I've never seen it before and he really showed us something that smaller people can't do. However, it looked pretty simple for him due to his height.

    Dunk #4 Mini-Goal Windmill
This was basically a glorified windmill, again won based on props.

To whoever said Green had to rely on props, I guess the hype prevented you from seeing all of the props Dwight used. Look, I like Dwight a lot. He seems like a good kid, but Gerald out dunked him tonight and I think Moon and Gay could have done the same.

Howard is known to be a devoted Christan (thanking God couple times after winning the dunk contest). But he also said during the dunk contest that his favorite song is "Crank that" by Soulja Boy, which is a pretty degrading song to say the least.

Freakin New Orleans crowd SUCKED so much, I thought Houston in 06 was quiet. Dawkins throwing Green's shoes down was completely disrespectful. That dunk took a lot for sure, most of the crowd however didn't get it because they all like gimmicks.

Again, new orleans has the worst crowd ever.

It's hard when you are flying several feet above the rim.

He jumped way too high. Are you going to penalize him for that? Do you really want to penalize him for being too skilled?
