He was certainly first team all defense for me. He is the best defensive center in the league by a wide margin right now.
Disagree. Chris Paul does play excellent defence. Don't judge from the Rocket's series when he was with a hammy injury. I still have Wall ahead of him though. And prob Conley. There seems to be a confusion in regards to center defence. Seems the people who voted confused shotblocking with actual defence. Jordan is not that good defender because his positioning and help defence is bad. Bogut's is excellent.
Ariza should be over WHOM exactly? Kawhi? Tony Allen? Buttler? Davis? Green? He's worse than all of them.
Howard used to be the best defensive player year in year out. Injuries derailed that and new players arose.
That's only if you look at everything purely from a statistical POV. It's like Shane Battier. You can't see what he did unless you watched him. The new breed of NBA defenders have more explicit stats. Guys like Trevor suffer because it's difficult to measure "on-the-ball" defense, without resorting to the "steals/blocks" categorization.
Constant propaganda stream from Doc Rivers as to how Chris Paul is the best defensive guard in the league. Mindlessly repeated 10-12 times a game by whichever sportscaster is promoting the Clippers on that particular stage at that particular time.
