I just got fkced over by NBA2k11... It turns out, if you take back your skill points and put them into another skill you lose points. I kept doing this to do the drills I wanted and I never realized I was losing points... i just lost like, 50000 skill points. 50k freaking skill points that I worked hard for.

I don't understand. I thought you could pull back points you used before on one area and re use them/transfer them to another. like, from Dunk...to offensive awareness etc.

You can.. but you lose points.. the cost gets higher or something or the points you get back is less than what you paid for

I can't find this answer anywhere online.

Is there a way to simulate or skip ahead in My Player mode? I have it on 5 minute quarters and the stats are all out of whack. The commentators showed a graphic saying my team had the best defense in the league because I held teams to 41 ppg. I don't have time to play 12 minute quarters...

Change the minutes to 12 then play the game and then simulate it when you exit.

I get 70 - 80 points a game in 5 minute quarters, ya'll need do just try a little harder. My stats are always legit, everyone else suffers stat loss but not me.

The quickest way to get through my player is 5 minute quarters and no simulation. If you want to make a guy that starts out with 99 everything stick with the association.

They better give Ish a 99 pass, speed, ballhandling, and quickness rating.

My stats are fine. I'm a SG about 15 games in and on my first game starting I got 22 points. What I said was that they showed a graphic of best defensive teams in the NBA and it looked something like this

    Points allowed
    MIL 41.5
    LAL 81.5
    BOS 82.5

Sort of took some of the realism out of the game, which is what I enjoy about it.

Played a bit of 2K9, and yeah, I forgot how much difference there is in control. Definitely not "I didn't want that" moments there. On the other hand, I can sort of appreciate what they are trying to do with 2K10 and 2K11. Just isn't perfect yet (or even close).

The more I play My Player (and the better my player becomes), the more frustrated I get with my AI teammates. Jacking up off balanced shots while double teamed early in the shot clock...ignoring my calls for the ball, despite my performance in the game so far (30+pts, just scored 3 straight times on layups). Always funny how the game gets mad at me for calling for the ball or attempting a contested layup...but then my team does things 10x worse. Wouldn't be a problem if we ran plays, but...

And I'm REALLY hating the post-game conferences now. A lot. Again, good idea in theory, but horribly executed. Just a waste of time. AND YOU CAN'T SKIP THEM! Enough with complaining about JRPGs or other cinematic games, NBA 2K11 now has the worst unskippable cutscenes.

I hate these kinds of complaints. The reason the game deducts from you when you call the ball is because its trying to maintain realism. It discourages a player from taking over the game every game. Try to play within the flow of the game and you'll better appreciate it. This isn't NBA Live where the game allows you to go off for 80 whenever you want. Your teammates have to score and get theirs too. As for the post-game conferences, they have their use. When it gets high enough you get to call your own trades for your team.

*sigh* People complaining about this game annoys me... it's as if there's a better game out there or as if this is a downgrade from the last... just freaking play.

There is no flow in My Player mode for 2K11, thanks to the issues with play calling I mentioned earlier. In 2K10, I always ran plays, and didn't really call for the ball too much. I ran whatever play was called, and we usually got some pretty good open shots. Really fun.

That's not in 2K11 for some dumb reason (unless you're a PG apparently...though not sure it even works 100% there). You're just running around, setting screens, cutting to the basket, or...calling for the ball.

My point was that if I didn't call for the ball, one of my teammates would just drive, get stopped, then try a fadeaway contested shot. Usually blocked 50% of the time. After seeing that enough times, I figured it would be better if I initiated the offense, even if the game preferred it if my teammates got horrible shots. Key word is initiate, as in I'm not trying to score after calling for the ball. I'm only trying to setup a mismatch or get someone in scoring position. Might be myself, or maybe I can get a pick and end up with Scola or Yao* on a guard (or just plain open for a dunk...assuming they actually cut to the basket). If I just scored 3 times in row, we should run the same "play" again, just like real life. Yet the AI didn't seem to agree.

Since I can't see what play is being run (assuming they are running a play), nor can I call any plays (even though I should be able to), this is the best way to get any kind of flow going. Yet the game deducts points for something I have to do to get the offense going.

As for the conferences, I already agreed that the idea of them is good. I understand their influence in the game mode (e.g., improve team chemistry -> teammates more willing to pass to you). The idea is good. The execution is not. I look forward to seeing how they can improve it in 2K12 or 2K13, but the current implementation is far from perfect. Simply adding an option to skip past certain scenes (or this altogether) would do wonders IMO, especially given how repetitive it eventually becomes.

That's basically the 2K games in general. Lots of great ideas, and some things are very well done. But a LOT of the game is not very polished at all. They need another 6 month or so of tweaking, bug-fixing, and fine-tuning. Little things here and there are acceptable, but there's usually a large portion of the game that fits that description.

All the things I've complained about are things I'm fairly certain weren't design choices (i.e., the game wouldn't still be this way if 2K had more time/money). They are things that they probably wanted to fix/change/improve, but didn't get to work on before shipping the game. Which is fine given their business model (can't do EVERYTHING in 12 months), but that doesn't mean I can't critique it. And there are a plenty of games better than 2K right now (maybe not NBA games...though plenty of other sports games or just games in general).

*Actually if I can get Yao posting up anywhere down low, I usually get it too him since he is a beast. Always a mismatch there.

I'm in my 2nd season My Player, I'm 73 overall right now. Last season I simmed maybe 70% of the games, only playing in key games (with 12 min quarters) and some other games here and there.

I spent my 1st year with Washington, but demanded to get traded to the Knicks this year mainly because they needed a PG while in WAS I was 6th man, also because they have Amare.

My pick/roll with Amare is damn near unstoppable. Esp. coming from Washington where I literally had scrubs like Trevor Booker starting at PF (who?).

I intend to step up my game into superstardom, last season I only averaged 9 PPG (mainly due to me simming most of the games).

Another two things that can frustrate:

There's no way to quickly inbound the ball after a score. That means, you can't go on fastbreaks. Whenever you concede a basket and you want to quickly go back the other way, you have this slooooow animation of your player (or your teammate) barely moving to inbound the ball. WTF?

After a foul is called, you stop dead in your tracks. Again, WTF, 2k11!? When you or your teammate commits a ticky-tack foul, you should be able to contest the shot after the whistle. Instead, you can just pray that the CPU will somehow miss while you just stand there and watch.

How is that full control over what you do?

Anyway, RC Cola, you CAN run plays, just not right away. You have to build up chemistry and turn in good performances. Then you'll be informed that the management considers you a very important part of the team and will now let you call plays. Happened for my PF after about 10 games of A+ performances.

    You can actually call plays?

I ask because I got that message a while back (think I mentioned it here?), but I never actually got to call plays in-game despite the message. Tried to call plays the same way I could in other game modes, but nothing actually happens. Thought it was just me, but I think I've seen others mention the same thing. Plus no one responded to my post about it then here, so I assumed it was widespread.

If you can call plays, maybe it is a more unique bug than I thought. You have the PC version right?

edit: And even it did work, not having the ability to know what play is being run until you play good enough is still horrible. And that's assuming "calling plays" = gaining playvision in My Player.

Thought I might as well put this in; just got injured taking a charge from LeBron (of all people, and I got downgraded from A+ to A for the foul as well :( ). Anyway, apparently I can choose to endure the pain for 11 days or rest for 5 days. Not too sure which one to go for to be honest.
