I like those strategy videos. I dodn't know that you could make the other player curl and move to receive the pass. I'll be practicing that today.
Just played it for the first time. Loved that you get to play as Jordan vs. the Lakers straight off the bat. After I played that game, I went on to My Player and just got drafted by the Wizards in the 2nd round, but I am bummed since I am a PG and Washington already has a ton of them. Is it possible to perform so poorly in the summer league so that the team doesn't sign you and you get to choose another team? I would consider doing that.
How hard is it for 2K to learn from their mistakes? They put out a good game and then they completely screw it up by not quality testing their ****. So many bugs, glitches, freezes, etc. in this game... I haven't played My Player mode for a week because of all the BS freezing that happens in that mode... Same **** happened last year.
I haven't had one issue with My Player...the only bug I've experienced is that my guy wears a headband when he walks into the stadium wearing a suit. So far, I'm loving this game!
Same for me, it looks so weird. It's off during the postgame interview though. Anyone ever had one of their teammates get 6+ fouls and not have to sit?
YES! You CAN call plays at a position other than PG! I was really worried about that. I just got a message from my coach saying that my teammates want me to start calling plays. I am a PF! Yes!
Geez, the commentary in the game is horrible. I guess as bad as last year though when I think about it. Well, the commentary itself is OK (especially from Harlan), but it repeats itself so much, and doesn't seem to always match up with what is going on. For example, I drive to the basket, attempt a layup but miss since it was contested. Don't remember the exact quote, but Kellogg says something like "To be honest, he's not good at making that shot even when he's open." Uh...a NBA player not good at making open layups? Granted, you start off pretty bad, but that's going a bit far. Especially for a 6'10" guy. And then just other stuff which is just bad. Also, looks like I gained the trust of my coach and team to call plays in My Player mode. Except I can't. None of the play controls actually do anything. I can only pull up the "Heat Check" popup, or the icons for picking positional plays (but can't pick plays themselves). Awesome. Thought maybe I had a solution to the "no plays in My Player" thing I mentioned earlier. I haven't had the freezing issue yet, although I was aware of it. Haven't really had too many glitches I guess. Just poor/incomplete design I think.
Wow, God bless you. I played 2 games and got him up to an 82. I put most of my skill points into his midrange shot and defense.
I played up to about 2-3 season games in the My Player mode. It was wayy to hard, even at the Pro level. How the hell can anyone do anything good starting with a 32 rating?? Skipped that ****. Created my own player at the My Association mode, started at a 79 rating. Kicked ass. Epic win.
haha same here. there are already 3 pgs there already so im forced to play sg a lot, and playing sg as a 6ft 160 lbs dude just sucks. anyway i requested a trade to the rockets, and guess what? the wizards traded me and arenas for patterson and harris. wtf? has arenas value gone down that much lol. btw, the rockets was 1-7 when i was traded there. another wtf!
Touché. Though in that case, I'd rather they just use a Jared Jeffries comment. "He missed that shot, but even when he's open, he'd pull a Jared Jeffries" or something like that. Though that would likely require some personality out of the color commentator...which Kellogg doesn't really have IMO. Though I guess it isn't just Jeffries: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xg4s5voa4DY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xg4s5voa4DY?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/85cZB9O_LkE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/85cZB9O_LkE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hwRa2j2s6ao?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hwRa2j2s6ao?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cvOm7dPS0Uw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cvOm7dPS0Uw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> (Joking aside, that comment is definitely meant towards something like a missed 14 ft jumper or something like that.) It is a little rough starting out, but it gets easier. You just have to stick with it. And when you're that poor of player, you just have to stick to the fundamentals. Set screens, box out, make the open pass, contest shots, etc. Kind of ignore trying to score points, unless it is an open layup/dunk/putback or something like that. I will admit that, even though it is pretty cheesy, cherrypicking does help a lot, especially if your player can dunk (more points via a highlight play). Whenever I'm on the perimeter (too far to rebound for the most part), I start sprinting towards the other side of the court as soon as I see a shot go up (or even sooner). Can usually get a few easy FGs this way. Eventually, you'll improve your skills (via skill points and drills every 5 games or so) so that you can become a bigger part of the offense. Maybe use a post move if you have a matchup against a smaller player, or Isomotion against a bigger (yet slower) player. I think I scored 2 pts my first game, but pulled off back to back 40 pt games around game 9-10 or so. Well part of the reason I scored 40+ with a scrub is that it is on Pro difficulty I think (I have no shame!). I should actually up the difficulty to Hall of Fame or whatever since the game is probably too easy for me right now, but I was trying to relearn the controls and nuances of the game again. Plus easier to get trust in team so I could call plays...except I still can't.
