I'm really excited for this game for The Association and My Player mode. In the association, it's going to be really great rebuilding Houston into a Dynasty (and looking at the ratings, I have a lot of work to do). The first year, I'll probably be a lower to middle team struggling to make the playoffs. I'll probably look to shop Battier for a pick and an expiring. In the offseason, I'll try and re-sign McGrady to a dirt-cheap contract (given his rating, he should will hopefully accept a bit more than the MLE). I can couple my pick and the pick I get from trading Battier to move up in the draft and get a future superstar. With the capspace I save re-signing McGrady on the cheap I can get a decent back-up for Yao in free agency. All while training/improving my young core of Brooks/Lowry, Ariza/Buddinger, Scola/Landry. I'm pretty excited!
yes they do. rockets can either get better or worse in the videogame as the season progresses while being online.
oh well i hope they get the players accurate later by posting updated rosters...but yeah i have NBA2K9 and i was disappointed in that game...too many points in the paint and too much dunking, it went from sim to NBA Jam/NBA live style. to me nba2k9: fail i hope they really improve the game with the fundamentals and defense...it was a big failure in that department
I strongly disagree with a couple of these ratings. Yao Ming - 83 - Honestly don't know why he is given this low of a rating. Best free throw shooting center and one of best pure shooters. I realize he doesn't rebound as good as what you'd expect from a 7'6 guy, but that shouldn't bring his rating down that much. I would think around 87 is about right for him. Luis Scola - 73 - Proved to be one of the elite power forwards last year, and still he is given a terrible rating. I believe the only reason he got this is because he has no reputation, and nobody really has seen his full potential like us Rockets fans have. I was thinking around 82 for Scola, if not higher. How is he the same rating as Ariza? I think he's a little better. Trevor Ariza - 73 - More accurate than these past two, but still probably a little low. Long athletic small forward who can shoot the three extremely well, and has great D. I can understand a 73, but was more thinking 75-76. Aaron Brooks - 71 - This one left me dumbfounded. How good do you have to be to earn above 80? Obviously must be pretty darn if Aaron recieves a 71. He has showed he can go into a slump, but doesn't almost everyone. He was the point general of a team who took lakers to 7, which is very impressive. Still in shock at reading this one. Hope he has a great season and proves all his doubters that he is an elite point guard. Other than those, thought the ratings were about right. I realize that it is just a game, but some of the ratings actually reflect the respect that each player has earned. I was extremely dissapointed to see these players earn such little respect, even after fighting a long hard season that saw us reach the 2nd round where we took the eventual championship team to 7 games. Why do we not get any respect? Go Rockets, prove all the haters wrong.
I also read that the ability to just dunk on command with Lebron and Kobe is gone now. The game play has been slowed down tremendously.
Doesn't necessarily indicate that, in the game, he's better than all players with less than 87 rating. Whatever formula they're using just happens to sum up all his individual attributes to 87. But a single formula can't really tell you everything about a player.
I don't want to get into anything but I wonder where this misconception of him being a extremely good 3 pt shooter comes from. He's a career 29% 3 pt shooter, and his average last season was 31%. Artest is what you would call a good 3 pt shooter, he shot nearly 40% last season, 34% career but the last 4 years it's been 38% or higher. Just saying..
Yao is the 2nd highest rated center, Ariza 73, Rashard Lewis is a 75, seems on par. Brooks doesn't have many point guard stills, he is a scorer, a low percentage one within the perimeter, and speed doesn't boost your overall. The ratings are low across the board. I like em. I agree with you on Scola, especially if Lee is a 78. But I wonder how much defensive rebounding accounts for the rating of a PF. That may play a role.
Shane Battier being on the roster causes everyone's rating to go up by +5. BTW, I am curious where an 81 overall rating puts the Rockets among the league.
only thing I dont care about association mode is as you go on, the others teams will be around 20 mil over the cap while if your playing money ball and under the cap, its kinda screwy.
Yao got shafted.....he should be at least 90. The man is unstoppable once he gets going (unless he gets hurt)
