Thanks Royals Ego, that was eye popping stuff. I had no idea that eugenics was basically an American brainchild and later transplanted to Germany, where a full experiment and application of that theory could be tested. I was aware of things like the Tuskugee Experiments on Black people in America, but I guess I need to read up more on the history of eugenics. I am a firm believer in science but it is examples like this which swing me in favor of ethical or moral limits placed on scientific research and, more specifically, experimentation.

Looks like there are a lot of knowledgeable folks around here, good discussion all around.

the code of ethics diminish over time, and whatever oath our scientists, doctors, engineers make upon receiving their credentials are thrown out the window when a chance to snatch history is within reach

eugenics is a fascination of mine, and let me just admit that i am all for eugenics, but the subject is broad and vague, the degree of punishment for the weak and fragile should be examined carefully, once euthanasia becomes a standard practice, that'll open the floodgates for legal homicides

the movie endgame only gives us one perspective of the story, there are many many books in german that offer even deeper insight to the manifestation of eugenics prior to ww2, however, most, if any, has ever been translated due to the sensitivity of america's handiwork

again, i wish you luck in uncovering the truth behind the solid smokescreen

Wow I didn't realize the Abrams was so heavy. Must be the depleted uranium used in the hull.

And rounding up and killing every senior officer in the Red Army a couple years before really didn't help matters...

Hitler didn't actually plan to invade Britain originally, he even sent them peace terms, which were refused. Russia was the masterstroke and the Achilies heel of his plan. If the Wermacht conquered all the grain in the Ukraine and the oil in the South, they probably would have won the war. As it was, they almost got there, but the cold winter and Russian production (they didn't know how to use tanks very well, but they could make ridiculous amounts of them) caught up with them.
Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor is a pretty good account of the Eastern Front and the battle that pretty much secured victory for the allies long before D Day for those interested.

Really? I think history is riddled with accounts of 'evil' outdoing 'good' at almost every turn.

Unless you meant to say that 'good' may lose all the battles but still win the war ;)

Anyways, I do not really believe in 'good' and 'evil', I think most things in life are a solid shade of gray. In the end, almost always, the victorious side gets to write history and label things the way they want them to be seen.

Their leader, while a brilliant leader, was far too schizophrenic in his leadership. He had too many ambitions in trying to take over the world. If he had waited until after he conquered Europe before turning his attention to the Jews, he would have probably been better off.

As an example of how psychotic the Germans were, in the middle of the War, they tried to trade one million Jews for 1 million (something like that) winterized trucks to help the war effort in the Winter. Funny thing is, they were trying to get the trucks from the Russians/Americans, the exact people they were to use them against...

Is eugenics really natural selection, though?

The history of eugenics in America is very interesting. The Supreme Court legitimized the practice of forced sterilization in Buck v Bell by an 8-1 decision. Carrie Buck was sterilized by tubal ligation under the aegis of the commonwealth of Virginia. My understanding is this case remains a valid legal precedent to this day.

    6) They could whoop your ass as long as they could drive there.
    7) Goering should have looked at the Luftwaffe as more of a strategic weapon, rather than a tactical ground support outfit.
    8) The Battle of Britain was lost when they stopped targeting airfields and radar installations and started terror raids over the cities.
