Frank Robinsons talking to his team about our double steal plans. Edit: Whooah! I'm the top poster on the last 2 pages! Freaky! Ugh, a foul popup.
I don't know if he's tired or just going thru a slump, but Biggio has been really struggling at the plate. 0-5 with 6 LOB tonight and 6-41 (.146) over hist past 11 games. With as many young players as we have, we can't afford to have one our veterans go thru an extended period of little-to-no production.
Don't tell that to the people who have been begging for Lane and Burke to sit on the bench. Personally, I agree with you... not just because I think Lane has been a much better hitter than his batting average has shown (he is still suffering from that awful awful May), but I just like having Lamb's potential stick on the bench for late-game situations (or Palmeiro's for that matter). At least we have our big guns coming up in the bottom of the 9th... time to pull out some more magic.
I was just going to post something similiar. Biggio is known for having horrible August's, although last year he was great down the stretch. Overall, I'd try to give him more rest on road games, and let him swing away at home. All of his #'s are much much better at MMP... tonight's game not withstanding.
Man... Cordero's got pin-point control. It doesn't matter how fast you throw it, if you can spot it where he does.
Well that SUCKED.....why can't any of our hitters go the opposite way? It seems that we have a TON of trouble with pitchers that keep the ball on the outside half of the plate. Only Berkman and Lane seem to go the other way.....too bad....this was a winnable game. DD
lamb is starting to remind me of ausmus, but atleast lamb came up big last year in the playoffs.?.?.?.
I'm tired of seeing Lamb out their for right handed pitchers. If Ausmus is out hitting you, you don't deserve to be out there... period. I'd rather see Burke or Lane, at least Burke has speed. Lamb.... .216 average.
Wow, he's barely hitting over the mendoza line , I forgot that it had dipped that low already... Phil needs to bench him and have him come off the bench as a pinch hitter, which he is better suited to be on this team.
If I were Garner, I would move biggio down to 6th in the order and have Palemerio in the 2 hole. Palmerio is a better on base guy and makes solid contact while Biggio is going through his annual slump. I also think Burke would prosper in the 2 hole b/c pitchers are probably consentrating more on Burke when he has Ausmus and the pitcher behind him; he could have success between taveras and berkman.
I say give Biggio a break and start Burke at second. That way you can play Palmero in left and Lane in right and put Berkman back at 1st. Give Biggio a chance at home because he plays better in MMP, but on the road I think Burke's speed and bat are wasted sitting on the bench.
It seems like with the number of guys we've been leaving on base we could beat the average team by 20 points.
