A quick tour of the top twenty that I know...

    Ugh.

Leave it to Conservatives to yearn for a monarchy.

    Does your conscience bother you?

    "In."

Are you kidding me? This is a scream against suburban devlopment sprawl that has birthed the backbone of the current Republlican Party. Irony at it's best.

    What about "Rule of Law?"

Based on the current administration, this is perhaps the most ironic.

Sorry, "The Only Band That Matters" is not Conservative.

ha ha. michael stipe said the same thing about "the one i love". w/ lyrics like "a simple prop to occupy my time", it wasnt exactly a lovey-dovey song, but people always took it as such.

good list though, but i would have put these songs of freedom in my list...
toby keith - courtesy of the red, white and blue (live version)
clint black - iraq and roll
darrell worley - have you forgotten?
alan jackson - where were you?

Here's a couple that I think should've made the list:

"Street Fighting Man" For those young conservatives that disrupted the Dade County recount in the 2000 elections.

"Oh Lord" Not sure if this is the title but the song is by Janice Joplin. Mercedes Benz actually used this song in a commercial so it can be a consevative theme song for those with no sense of irony.

"Christmas" from Tommy by the Who, lamenting how a deaf dumb and blind boy doesn't know who Jesus was.

"Sally Simpson" also from Tommy and in praise of Televangelism.

"Girl with Far Away Eyes" another song in praise of Televangelism by the Rolling Stones.

"Money, that's What I Want" in praise of Capitalism.

"Band out of Boston" Boston living the American Dream. See also 'Jukebox Hero'

"Eye of the Tiger" One of the seminal songs of Reagan's America.

"Slow Turning" by John Hiatt on the pleasures of family life.

"Killing an Arab" by the Cure, self-explanatory.

    Anything by Ted Nugent.
