That wasn't me, that was subtomic, get your posters straight. ;)

And my argument in the thread you're referring to wasn't if she co-wrote her music it was that she is overrated but let's not start that again.

And which of Mariah's albums has only gone gold. Even "Glitter" was certified platinum and I know all of her albums before that went platinum so which one went gold?

You should also keep all this in perspective. The sheer numbers of people buying music is increasing exponentially as the population increases and as the record companies have refined 'selling' their product. For example, a 'Gold' record (I believe 500,000 sales) used to be a HUGE deal. Now its crap due to the size of the market vs what is was then. So you could say Garth Brooks sold more actual individual CDs than the Beatles, but what does that mean? Can you say he's more popular, or that he sold better than the Beatles? I think those conclusions would be misleading. Artists like Madonna and Streisand have sold millions over a long period of time. They've broken new ground with their music and brought something new to the musical arena for us. Note: I don't like ANY of the three - those two or Mariah. But Mariah's sales are pure hype. Could her marriage have anything to do with the massive contract, and Sony having little choice but to continue to pump her albums up and out (until her public breakdown left them an out)?

What are you talking about. She was divorced when her last three albums came out for Sony and her and Sony chief Tommy Mottola, who she was married to, didn't get along too well afterwards. Her massive contract wasn't for Sony it was for Virgin Records, get your facts straight. As for her sales being pure hype the same could be said for any big name artist like the ones you mentioned.
