We do have Charter of Rights and Freedoms in our constitution, actually. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms After thinking about this a bit more I think I would prefer that we let these guys go and that we watched them if we felt it was necessary. If they ever leave the country then we could deny them re-entry, perhaps. If there’s only 3 of them then it wouldn’t be a huge expense to put surveillance on them rather than keeping them locked up in jail, it seems to me, and it may be more useful from an intelligence standpoint. I can't imagine why we aren't doing this already when I come to think about it.
Please point out the obvious. Should we be criticizing Canada - or should one not criticize another country doing something when your own country is doing the same thing? No, it isn't that. That was in response to a nonchalant attitude about the subject of the thread. I wouldn't say counterpoint. Food for thought, maybe. Few threads in the D&D these days don't include at least several 'it's the Bush cabal!' type posts. Who is to blame in Canada? Is that also a result of the Bush cabalists, is the demonization of the Bush administration maybe going too far, or are there Canadian Cabalists? SC, that kidder. He got me on that one!
Very interesting. Knowing almost nothing about the Canadian charter is Habeus Corpus enshrined in it along with due process? Also does it differentiate between rights granted to Canadian citizens versus others?
Obvious: Most of us aren't Canadians don't have a vote in Canada and know very little about the Canadian Constitution. Sure I don't think its a good idea for Canada to be detaining people indefinately without trial but not being a Canadian my viewpoint carries little weight in Canada. Don't you think we should focus on fixing problems here first before spending time trying to fix someone elses policies?
So then you would also suggest Grizzled should focus on fixing problems there first before spending time trying to fix someone elses policies, right?
It's obvious that we should invade this oppressive regime after we send Iran back to the Stone Age. yeeehaw ::bang::bang::
I'd shoot more bullets at the air in agreement, Hayes, but those damn Liberals and their sneaky gun laws only give me eleven bullets.
