    The point of potential is to marry athleticism/size/talent with smart play down the line. Most championships have guys with unique talent that develop into smart players. The chances of getting a guy that doesn't have superior athleticism/size/talent but ends up becoming a superstar like Nash is so rare it would be incredibly dumb to draft for.
