Those players also came in playing the same position they played before. Not only is Steve learning the NBA game, he's learning a new position.

    Blade,

That is a very valid point. I concede that one.

Yep, and it is still relevant.

Nash is a heck of a player...

The bottom line is that Steve has a higher POTENTIAL upside then Nash, but that does not mean he will ever reach it.

Nash is a SMART player, Steve is a great athlete.

If Steve develops the smarts he will surpass Nash, until then Nash is better.

Nobody was complaining in the 00-01 season when Rockets were over .500 mark. I know Francis needs to develope better defensive skills but he still is a very smart point gaurd. Nash is a better shooter and passer. That aspect is perfect for his team because it is unavoidable that he has 10x better talent around obviously Nash will get more assists and open looks (and wins). The facts are simple: DALLAS is better than HOUSTON, but NASH is not better than STEVE.

I don't remember Nash play that great of defense either. We seem to forget the fact that Mike Bibby was having a career night due to the fact that Nash lit him up for 30.

Nash is good, not John Stockton good, but good. However, with a focused Steve gunning for the playoffs or in the playoffs, I think his defensive intensity would increase 3 times.

Nash is all star material every other year. Steve w/o migranes and focus on D is ALL - STAR all DAY every DAY.

Nash is a good defender. He's definitely better than STeve. One night for Mike Bibby doesn't warrant anything.

Tony Parker lit Payton up for 30 or so points. Is Payton average? Who made Parker "Jesus"?

Give credit where it's due. Nash is the betted defender. But not because he's mastered defense. He just does what he can. Puts in the effort. He's not the type of player than can, for example, defend Francis or Baron Davis or Gary Payton or NVE for that matter.

Francis will carry his team in the playoffs. We're the Rockets. Never underestimate the heart of a champion.

Cute thread title. Bring it up again next season when we're tearing up the league with a healthy team and whatever we get out of our picks. (various appendages crossed!;) )

    Spot on @DaDakota.

And still true today, Josh Giddey is far superior to Jalen Green or Kpj.
