Yes congrats to all. No need to rely on the Russians now for transport.

We are in Hawaii, so we missed the Space-X launch, but our granddaughter took this from our back yard.

Watched part of the launch yesterday and while that was very impressive one thing that really struck me was how sparse the inside of the Dragon capsule looks. The Apollo capsule was crammed with switches and indicators while the Dragon capsule only has a few touch screens.

While rocketry has advanced Dragon is basically using the same technology that launched Apollo, thrust generated by chemical reaction. The sci-fi of the 60's predicted that we would be using things like Ion drives or Fusion engines and we're nowhere near close to that. The technological revolution has really happened in computing power and in user interfaces.

the command module of the apollo program had much more functionality. I'm sure a go kart has less switches than an F1 car.

They are going just fast enough to constantly fall over the edge of the earth but not fast enough to leave orbit.
