This in no way goes against any laws of physics, and just shows that after not having a clue about what you are pretending to know about, you've tried to move the goal posts.

You can be disappointed all you want, but you don't have the slightest clue about what you're talking about with this aspect.

If I recall correctly the vibrating instruments/screens/whatever was primarily an issue with take off not during the entire duration of the flight or they never moved passed that. I'm not 100% sure about that. If anyone else is interested, I'll ask again and find out more details.

You're a strange guy, because you don't really have any type of knowledge or expertise about this. Clearly don't have a grasp on what you're talking about, and yet you're pretending sit in judgement of what others are talking about in this thread.

The know-it-all who's been shown up, and exposed like you have is curious to me because for some reason you keep on persisting and moving the goal posts to try and save face rather than just admit you were ignorant on something related to the topic.

It's almost like you're perceiving some kind of threat to your pretended expertise, and are super defensive about any information others bring up even when it isn't in contrast to anything you've posted.

Don't worry, kid, I'm not trying to lay claim to your vast knowledge of space programs. You can still sit on that throne. But I was just adding something I knew that was an aside minuscule aspect to the whole manned flight to Mars story.

But I will say that if you really want to be seen and thought of as Mr. Expert on this, then being so defensive about it, and lashing out at folks that know something about it that you didn't isn't a good strategy.

Like I said, it just makes you look, petty and defensive.

Again, none of that matters to me, I just thought I'd throw it out there, and see if maybe we can raise the tone of the conversation a bit.

Funny, but I actually thought that it was initially about G-Force also. No, it was definitely not that. Vision was the main problem, but if I remember correctly it might have also been the astronauts ability to operate the instruments.

But yes, like I said, it wasn't the main problem. It was just one of many tiny problems that nobody thought of when the project started, and it actually wasn't an easy fix.

If you would like, I can ask for any clarifications that you would like. Just message me, or post it here, and I wouldn't mind getting whatever clarification that you wanted or had questions about.

Anti-science republican rhetoric at work blah blah.

Speaking of full of crap, what do they have to say about Ted Cruz, who pulled out the dirtiest trick in the book?

Research on sending a man to Mars has been ongoing for quite a while. It was never a funded project like Space Shuttle, Apollo or any of that kind of thing, but research for it and preliminary tests were being done perhaps in connection with other projects. In addition after the Shuttle program when they were trying to start another manned project one of the possibilities they were looking at with it was indeed the possibility of going to Mars.

Why don't you see what you can find out about the work done by United Space Alliance, JPL, etc?

I get it, your attempt at showing off your knowledge in this area kind of imploded when you went off the deep end, and you feel like if you can somehow make it seem like I'm far off base, it will save your claimed position.

If that's your tactic, you're more than welcome to keep at it, but it will only hinder your effort. You're lack of knowledge wasn't exposed until you started lashing out wildly and started trying to show that nobody else could possibly offer anything on the topic that you didn't know about.

Attacking me, won't help your position. Sorry, Gus, it just doesn't work like that. It might make you feel better. You can keep trying if you want, but it just won't work. Sorry

Oh is that what happened? LOL!

Sorry, what I posted is 100% factually accurate. I don't know why that threatened you, and made you so defensive.

The fact that you aren't aware of one aspect of something doesn't mean you can't be knowledgeable about the subject as a whole. You still could have pulled it off until you exposed your lack of knowledge and started moving the goalposts.

But oh yes, I was posting BS. LOL! You have no clue what you're talking about. That is true in general, but you especially have no clue about me and my history with this, and where I'm coming from. HAHAHAHA!

Go ahead, keep going. You'll only dig a deeper hole for yourself.

okay, keep moving the goalposts and talking about something else. I the sentence that you didn't understand was me thinking it was worthwhile to give some background on the information.

But your point was never to actually find out where the information came from or what it was talking about, so there is no point in explaining anything to you.

I frequently am posting in a hurry and don't proofread what I post so it's fine if it wasn't clear. I have no problem accepting that criticism.

What I was saying is that when they were questioned about why they couldn't use the exact same technology and engineering they used for unmanned space flight for manned spaceflight, the vibration issue was one of the reasons, and in order to restructure a craft to eliminate the issue, then a change in weight would also require a change in the amount of fuel needed which also adds more weight. It was something that had to be considered.

Also if you were unclear when I mentioned the project, it is true that the there is no project now, but there was until a few years ago, and that was when the specifics that I'm talking about were taking place. The project wasn't specifically targeted to Mars. That was something that was being considered during the development of the project which had more immediate targets such as the space station etc. But the idea was that it would have other purposes and potential destinations as well.

Perhaps you didn't understand what I was talking about, and jumped to silly conclusions about it. I don't know. But the information I gave is 100% factually accurate. There isn't any doubt about it.

I don't know what to tell you, but you are wrong. The vibration may not have been a factor for the whole flight, but maybe just the initial power needed to take off carrying that much weight for food/fuel etc. It wasn't a problem that they encountered until doing the actual tests. Nobody thought about it. I'm not sure. If someone else wants me to get clarification, I'll be more than happy to find out. One of the reasons I found it interesting was because it seemed to me like something nobody would imagine the leading space program would have to deal with in the 21st century. It sounded crazy. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit. Nothing more.

Cranberry_Juice can say whatever he wants. Unless he knows the specifics or is a rocket designer/computer programmer/engineer on one of the programs then he has no idea of what they need.

This isn't ghosts or science fiction, or fiction of any type. It is what actually happened. This wasn't some theoretical guess, or anything of the sort. It was what was actually tested and the problems actually encountered.

Like I said, you can believe it or not. Maybe you can get

The idea wasn't just reaching Mars, but reaching Mars in a certain time frame.

Obviously there are certain changes between a manned and unmanned flight which is why the weight fuel is an issue. Yes, you are correct about the fuel in general. But that being said an unmanned spaceflight needing fuel for one direction is still less than the one direction weight and fuel needed for a manned space flight.

As far as the 19 billion a year saving lives that's true, but I'd be fine with spending it if it would actually get us to Mars. I'm a romantic that way. I think there are huge benefits to a nation being successful space explorers.

At the same time it's hard to argue that it would be more practical to spend the money elsewhere.

Nobody is paying any attention to the underwater test pilots that have gathered in the Antarctica. Something bigger is happening.

The point is spacex is of value. When you are 100% certain its doesn't have any, you are being ridiculous. That's all. Seriously, you are weird when it comes to Mars mission. I'm as excited as any to have one, but I'm not about to said everything NASA does won't have any values at all toward a future mission.

You have to love those rude, snide posters who come on here and act like they're smarter than everyone, or, at least, only manage to belittle themselves when they attempt to do so to others.

The internet has taught me that there are a lot of people in the world who are either mentally ill or simply need to get the f*** out of the house and learn how to interact with other human beings. And when I say, "get out of the house", I might add, "without always fastening your ever-Gollum-like eyes on your smart phone screen all day".

As far as a mission to Mars? Define a plan and explain to Congress why a manned mission to the planet is so worth the (pun-not-intended) astronomical expense. Thumbs up or thumbs down.

Otherwise, let it go and get on with what can and will be accomplished.
