As it should be because the ISS is the only thing humans can achieve and is the best thing.

After your ridiculous negative reaction to SpaceX successfully landing a rocket, I am done listening to you on anything related to space.

If it's really that important to get a living breathing human on Mars (and it is not to me) , is it really that hard to shove some people, food & supplies in cans and shoot them off to Mars? A few of them would eventually make it, it's less than a year if you do it right, correct?

Getting them back isn't going to happen but who cares? if they sign on for it, let em go. I'm with Rand Paul on that

Here's part of the problem. If manned craft is going up there, it is a problem making it go as fast as an unmanned craft.

That is true because at the super high speeds the screens onboard shake so much that humans can't read them and make adjustments. Unmanned craft has no requirements for that.

So in order to make any modifications needed would change the whole weight/fuel demand etc.

That's only one of the many problems with manned flight.

WE didn't need humans on board making adjustments to land various craft on mars in the past - why is one required now?

If it's mostly for psychological reasons - just put a fake control stick there so they can pretend they're in charge.

haha LOLWUT is exactly right. If the equipment is shaking that much, its safe to assume making adjustments is the least of their concerns.

After watching Martian, I'm all pump up. Let's go.

So has any Martian start incorporating SpaceX capability? I would think they are excited about adopting those capabilities to drastically reduce costs.

    You're a strange guy bandwagoner

What exactly are you ranting about? Do you want NASA to end? Is that what your rant is about? I don't even remember what I said about it before but I think just noted how private companies are taking the lead in space exploration at much lower cost. I don't think it would be that huge of a deal if NASA was cut back.

Humans are just another stepping stone of evolution like dinosaurs and Neanderthals. It won't be bags of pink jelly that go outside the asteroid belt.

Uh that's the truth from people who have worked on the program. You have two choices about what you can do.

    1. Either realize that as smart as you think you are, you may not know everything.

    2. Just keep mouthing off about stuff you don't really know about.

    See you.

Partly correct. At high speeds there are tons of vibrations using the same engineering used for unmanned space craft.

But, yes there are other concerns. Seeing the instruments, however is a real one.

No need to start. The world has been running in circles and burning cash for years. Somehow that makes Mars manned mission conceivable. Just somehow. But another 20 years? Nope.

Rather, let's just put all that cash in a rocket and shoot it into the ocean.

Meanwhile, Martians like Mars One teams and Zubrin are excited about the prospect of using SpaceX. Hooray.

I'm 100% sure nothing of value was invented as an offshoot of space travel.
