there is a new wave of thinking called the Ekpyrotic Universe. The premise is that our universe was created when 2 parallel " membranes" in the fifth dimension collided rather than starting with a "Big Bang." Here's a better explanation: Ekpyrotic Universe Theory
some folks had an idea that there would be background radiation left over from the big bang so they sent a satellite name of COBE up into space and sure enough it detected the microwave background radition them folks had predicted.
By working harder than anyone else. He is obviously the most qualified. Just look at the outstanding job he's doing. It is just pure and straight capitalism the cream has risen to the top. His hard work and dedication has really paid off.
You're absolutely correct but so is the theory that atoms are composed of protons and neutrons yet we can still detonate nuclear bombs. The Big Bang and other scientific theories regarding the origins neither prove or disprove God unless you are wedded to an extremely narrow interpretation of God. For that matter even if you are it doesn't disprove it since everything could've happened exactly according to the Bible, Vedic, Anasazi or whatever religion you believe in and 200 years ago God or other deities decided to plant false empiracal evidence and make the Universe appear to have come about this way. Either way those aren't scientific questions but philosophical questions.
In still other news sending out mandates to add "theory" after each reference to the Big bang on the NASA website is the dumbest thing ever. Freakin stupid people. It is just unbelievable.
I dont believe the Big Bang contradicts Genesis either, and frankly am a ittle puzzled as to why people would think it did. If anything I would love for it to be true as I think it is further evidence of God than anything. Progblem though is that its still just a theory until someone can actually create some sort of generator that can mimic this in some fashion.
Big Bang theory is referenced in one of the holy texts from what I understand, but you're right that it's a theory although a pretty strong one that's supported by our enhanced ability to observe the creation of entirely new universe of stars and planets light years away from us.
Just to play devils Advocate If it is the truth . .. it is a theory Why is it stupid to require it Rocket River
I trust NASA over dip**** A&M Bushie religious agenda attack on science brah. Actually I would say the extremely moronic Bushers wanting to put "theory" after pretty much proves it as fact. What can we do to just make them go away? I am really just in disbelief about this. And I can't believe it is tolerated one bit. Something is very wrong. I have had enough. They only want to put "theory" after it because they are scared of it.
Leaving aside word games and political connotations the reasons why scientific theories are required learning is because theory is the second highest level of proof for a scientific idea, behind law and these days no one is calling anything a law since that means absolute proof which is impossible. Science and what comes from it, engineering and medicine, are built on theories. If we don't teach scientific theories then not only most of modern science but our technology will collapse. For instance as I said the idea that atoms are composed of protons, neutrons and electrons is a theory yet if we didn't have that there would be no nuclear power or even very complicated electronics since that is dependent on understanding the transfer of electrons. Most of modern medicine and biology is dependent upon understanding the principles of Evolutionary theory. If we didn't teach it then a lot of the drugs and other threatments that we have wouldn't exist. Even the Big Bang theory has practical applications since some of our modern communication technology is so sensitive that the background microwave radiation affects it. So yes these are theories but far from being shaky guesses they are the cornerstone of science and engineering and while you're free to not believe they affect you every day. In fact if it wasn't for scientific theory we wouldn't be able to have this conversation right now on the Internet.
The existence of cosmic microwave background radiation was first predicted in 1948 and first observed in 1965. This is pretty strong evidence in support of the big bang theory.
