You could draw them a picture of Lil Curry. Make sure to spend like 2-3 hours on the shading on the upper lip. Your mom goes to College...
OK now my question to you and moe is this: If I thought Shaun of the Dead was completely boring and not remotely funny except for one single scene, and I didn't really find much humor in the Royal Tennenbaums, would I like Napoleon Dynamite? I'm guessing not, but I just want to make sure. I haven't watched Harold and Kumar, but I have it on good authority (someone who I KNOW has similar tastes in movies) that it's freaking hillarious. So I was planning on renting H&K and ND, but I'm poor and I don't want to waste more money on another movie I'm not going to find funny.
i hated royal tennenbaums...loved napoleon dynamite. other favorite comedies include: old school, road trip, harold and kumar, dumb and dumber...maybe that will help you come to a decision on whether or not you're gonna see it.
well...put it this way. i found it "above average amusing" coming out of the theatre. but afterwords - just incredible. so many quoteable lines, so many memorable scenes.
Okay, for those of you that have seen ND only once, but didn't really like it, you have to watch it again and appreciate all of the really stupid things that happen in the movie. The first time I watched it, I was disappointed because I heard so many good things about it. Then, I kept hearing the "freaking IDiots!" in my head, so I watched it again. Second time was 5x funnier. I've watched it a few more times now and I'm finding little things that really crack me up. In anticipation of the next rididulous scene I'll start to crack up knowing that Uncle Rico is about to scream like a little b@#$% when Napoleon throws the orange. I think that it won't be long before a bunch of people start throwing out the Napoleon "Idiots!" and "Gosh!" almost as much as everyone was doing Chappelle's "Rick James b****!" We'll see.
Won't be long?! You must not have been near any college campuses or students in the last couple of months. I've been hearing them nonstop since I saw the movie opening weekend! Of course us UT kids are all a lil off the wall though...
It's true about repeated viewings of Napoleon Dynamite. It took me about 30 minutes just to get acclimated to the character and the tone of the flick. I have seen it 3 times over the same rental period and will be buying it soon. After the third viewing, it became one of my top 10 or 15 favorite movies.
I watched it a week ago, finally. Funny movie, well worth the rental. I might watch it again before I return it.
Saw this flick the other day... avoid it. It's essentially MTV's version of an indie or Wes Anderson flick. Predictably, it sucks.
Wow, I bought Garden State yesterday and it is amazingly good. I felt like a flippin' chick at the end thinking "DON'T LEAVE HER THERE YOU ****ING DUMBASS" . Portman is too adorable, I'm smitten by her. megs - I haven't heard of one person who has seen H&K not thinking it was hilarious. It's really a lot better of a movie than it seems too.
I also just realized that Summer Weatley is played by Haylie Duff, Hilary's older sister! I don't know if that's noteworthy, mostly just kind of interesting.
I loved the movie. Did everyone see the coninuation of the movie after the credits, when La Fawnduh and Kip get married? Uncle Rico: "Back in 82', I used to be able to throw a pig skin a quarter mile."
