It definitely took me watching it twice to really like Napolean Dynamite. The dialogue is hilarious. It actually hits you after you watch the whole thing. At least it did me. It stays wih you and
you DO find yourself quoting it quite a bit.........my stepdaughter won't stop with the Yessssss!

It's definitely a love it or hate flick much like Royal Tenenbaums which I liked.

Are there deleted scenes on this DVD? It says so on the package, but I can't find them.

I wish I could go back in time. I'd take state.

There's a few, including one that should have definitely been in the movie. It's a confrontation on the kickball field between Don and Napoleon.

My DVD has full screen on Side A and wide screen on Side B. I, too, was wondering where they were because we tend to watch the wide screen versions. The extras are on the full screen side.

Lost in Translation was a great movie. Poignant, funny. Went in a completely different direction from what I'd expect a Bill Murray movie to do, but very well done.

Haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite, had no inclination to see it, but the people who hate it also seem to hate Wes Anderson flics, and his movies (Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, etc.) are incredible. So I'll probably rent it this weekend.

i think it's similar, Sam. subtle humor. situational, quirky-character driven humor.

I had no idea that the director of Rushmore was from Houston. That's one of my favorite movies. I also liked Bottlerocket and the Royal T's, but Rushmore really stands out.

    sweet.

A little bit of info regarding the "original" short that Napoleon Dynamite is based on. It's the one that my wife and I saw at BYU.

Originally, the short was entitled "Peluca", and Napoleon's name was Seth!

Not to derail my own thread... but who cares?

I watched Garden State yesterday. It was a decent movie, not as great as I had hoped based on all the great reviews from critics, but not the piece of trash that was Napolean Dynamite.

Natalie Portman was OUTSTANDING in her role, as was Zach Braff.

    Overall a 6.0 out of 10.

    I laughed my ass off at the trailors for this movie and could not wait to see it after seieng some of the quotes in this thread. Netflix delivered it today, I watched it this evening...and all I can say is;

    It was HORRIBLE![/Bill Walton voice]

I dig quirky humor and low brow comedy, but this movie was friggin' boring as hell. Snoozer much?

My wife and I just watched this, so I wanted to throw my 2 cents in...

Fantastic movie. I loved every second of it, although I can see how some people wouldn't. It's a revenge of the nerds remake to the extreme.
