This movie is brilliant for pointing out the following:

    * The vast amount of humor in the game of tetherball (the scene at the end where he whoops the girl with the illegal hits is hilarious).

    * Saying 'obvious' things can be funny ("You guys are r****dED", This is possibly the WORST movie ever made", etc). Saying things confidently that are blatantly untrue is even more funny!

    * Guys with curly red hair are funny, especially when they dance.

By the way, anyone know what year this movie was SET in? I'm curious, but I would have guessed mid 90s.

Just saw this Tuesday night (laugh out loud funny) and halfway through, my wife asked this same question. According to his school ID card that's flashed in the opening credits, it's during the '04 - '05 school year. Get the DVD, the deleted scenes answer alot of questions.

He said that was his real hair. They gave him a perm and he only washed it twice during the shooting.
