tbh i think portland just wanted to see what they were like, they were all expirings and i'd be willing to bet money that camby's agent had informed them that he was going to play out the last few years of his career where he lives.

I'll also say that Portland were trying to get worse/looking to get young, basically trading Camby to where he wanted to be for nothing but expirings is good for Portland in a few ways (positive rep with players/agents, desired results (losses), zero impact on salary going forward)

Aldridge and Love aren't centers. Sorry. And Duncan really isn't a center either. He very seldom plays the 5 for the Spurs. They've almost always got Blair or Splitter playing there. Duncan does not play enough minutes at the 5 to count, whereas Garnett spends most of his minutes at the 5 at this point in his career. That's why I included Garnett but not Duncan.

To me the two limiting factors with Camby is that he can't play 30-40mpg these days, and that he's old and more prone to injuries. Even if he is capable of playing at an average-starting-center level, you can't count on quantity. In the best case scenario, Camby splits minutes with another solid center(which I'm not sure Dalembert is). And then you have two all-stars at other positions to form a contender.

In Greek mythology, when Achilles was a baby, it was foretold that he would die in battle . To prevent his death, his mother Thetis took Achilles to the River Styx which was supposed to offer powers of invincibility and dipped his body into the water. But as Thetis held Achilles by the heel, his heel was not washed over by the water of the magical river. Achilles grew up to be a man of war who survived many great battles. But one day, a poisonous arrow shot at him was lodged in his heel, killing him shortly after. Still, Achilles is remembered as one of the greatest fighters who ever lived.
