I asked for BOTH of these for Christmas and ended up getting NEITHER. Stupid family! I've been to Half Price Books, but haven't been able to locate all the available books in the series, so I don't want to buy any of them. There's always my birthday though.
Haha, man I remember the animorphs. I was always tripped out by those books as a pre-teen/teen I enjoyed the Dune Series, The Ender Series (both Ender and Bean books, although I felt like xenocide was a tough read because of all the philosophy/metaphysical things going on), Harry Potter Series, The Dark Tower Series was pretty sweet too. I think that's it as far as series go. I've read a few other series but none were quite as good as the above.
My Teacher is an Alien series by R.L. Stine (before goosebumps) Encyclopedia Brown (by Donald J. Sobol) LOTR Harry Potter His Dark Materials
The Puppy Who Lost Its Way. Its about America's role in the Industrial Revolution. Lol. Really though. I did get into Star Wars novels for a time. Nerdy I know, but the Han Solo trilogy and Thrawn trilogy were both really good. As for the Dark Towers series, is it complete? I was of the understanding that the publishing of the books spanned decades and the last one wasn't out as of a couple of years ago.
Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh, good choice. The Zahn novels were awesome. Lucas could have learned a thing or two if he were paying attention re: making Star Wars not suck.
Hitchhiker's Guide books Douglas Adams Dark Tower series by Stephen King I used to really enjoy the Jack Ryan books by Tom Clancy, but they got somewhat preachy toward the end and I think I outgrew them.
I've got to second the Ohterland series by Tad Williams and also the Star Wars trilogy by Timothy Zahn, which are the only Star Wars books I've read. Both should have been on my original list. There are just too many books over the years...
LOTR - Tolkien Wheel of Time - Jordan The Fionavar Tapestry - Kay The Arthurian Saga - Stewart Conan - Howard Cthulu Mythos - various That's just off the top of my head.
Yes, it's complete, the last book came out in 2004. There have been a couple of prequel graphic novels since then. I've liked most of the science fiction and fantasy series listed. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that hasn't been mentioned that I really liked is R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt novels. There's nothing incredibly profound in them but they've all been very entertaining. For those interested in the Ender stories, Ender in Exile was released last November. It's set between Ender's Game and Speaker for the dead. I haven't read it yet so I'm not sure how it stands up to the rest of the series.
Anne Rice.... I think I've read everything she has written under that name. Dale Brown's flight of the old dog stuff centering around B1's and BUFFS. I've read a lot of Tom Clancy and I like his non fiction stuff better although clear and present danger was a really good book. LOTR's and the Hobbit and when I was in middle school I liked the FASA Shadowrun books by various authors.
Clear and Present Danger and Sum of All Fears were great for me. But personally, I think Without Remorse is the best book Clancy has ever written.
Kent Family Chronicles Carlos Constaneda's Teachings of Don Juan Left Behind (can't wait for the multiple books by an author thread )
Harry Potter has to be at the top of my list. Some other favorites are: The Ender Series by Orsen Scott Card (really anything by him) The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher The Dragons of Pern books by Anne McAffrey Somebody mentioned the Lawrence Block Burgler series, I love everything by him. He has a great older series about a guy who doesn't need to sleep (Tanner I think) and also one about a hitman.
Animorphs -- back in the days Judy Blume books Goosebumps Dean Koontz mysteries S.E. Hinton--Outsiders, Tex, Rumble Fish etc. (not really a series I know)
