"Jenny(867-5309)"- Tommy Tutone Snopes Urban Legends about the song: http://www.snopes.com/music/songs/8675309.htm
"L-O-L-A, Lola. La la la la Lola" They spell another word in the song for that matter: "...tastes just like cherry cola. C-O-L-A, cola..."
"777-9311" - Moris Day & The Time and while on Moris Day & The Time, there is one more number song, "The Walk."
I forgot about the Time! On their first album there's a song called "Cool" (I think). They spell out c-o-o-l.
That is right, and they even say "what's that spell..." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "The Alphabet" "U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no aliby...."
Hey, I still would except I have it all on LP and I haven't had a record player for years. I was a huge Prince fan in the early/mid eighties, so I listened to a lot of his spin-off bands (The Time, Vanity 6, Shelia E., The Family, etc...) as well. Some were definitely better than others.
Do you remember Mazarati ("Player Ball" & "100 MPH"), Jesse Johnson (solo) but called his band Revue? Jerome was always a personal favorite of mine, he was the coolest servant (for the lack of a better term) of all times! That was good stuff!
Does "Nice and Slow" by Usher count? They call me U-S-H-E-R R-A-Y-M-O-N-D nowbabytellmewhatyouwannado
I remember Mazarati and I had (may still have) the Jesse Johnson single "Crazy." As for Jerome, no one could hold a mirror and dance as well as he could. But I think his role in the regrettable "Under the Cherry Moon" did irreperable damage to his career.
He did that with Sly Stone. I loved his stuff, "Free World" about how everyone compared him to Prince due to the resemblance, "Be Your Man", and "I Want My Girl." I got really lucky and about 4 years ago a friend of mine had a lot of older stuff like that on CD listened to it on my computer and somehow was placed on my hard drive ....along with some old Herbie Hancock, among others. Does anyone remember The Rappin Duke?
Alef Bet Gimel..... is the Hebrew alphabet. I had learned the song taught to English speaking Hebrew students when I was perhaps three years old. Then when I was taking Hebrew in college it was helpful.
