On topic, if I said my favorite name for a dog, anyone who remotely knew me... or my dog (he was famous at parties) in Houston and Austin back in the '70's and early '80's, would know who I am in real life. There are a lot of people who knew him and didn't know me well at all. At least a couple of hundred. Funny, but true. So I'll give out the generic "Fido" as a suggestion. What's wrong with Fido? It'd be different, anyway.
... Actually, I would be honored. I love dogs, but can't currently have one due to no yard, little time. I do have a cat named "Ajax" who has figured out that I want a dog and thereby has started acting like a dog. He constantly begs for food, and he plays fetch, etc.
Ajax! My mother-in-law has a cat called Ajax! Also Ripley and Bogey...which are actually pretty good names for dogs, too.
You can go with Jake, which is the name of my dog or Rex, which is the name of my parents' dog. Also, I have always liked King. And lol at Isabel's new title! That is great!
I've always had to meet the dog, get a feel for their personality, then come up with a name. You'll go through a lot of different permutations, but eventually I've always been able to come up with something good. The last two I've come up with were Rusty and Troy.
Here are pet names from my pets... the ones I can remember: Dogs: Tolouse, Lucky, Ollie, Julius, Cookie Cats: Jersey, Harper, Scout, Bart, Callie, Zeke and Manny
I have two Cavaler King Charles Spaniels (boys). One is named Louie and the other SeaBiscuit. I named him that before the damn movie came out......took away all the originality!!!!
i can't name my dog ajax, i like the fact that ajax is a mythological name (greek hero) but a soccer team in holland is called ajax, and i'm not an ajax fan. thanks alot that so many people react. i almost get the feeling i'm popular
Lol. I've started a tradition of giving my pets geographical names. One dog was named China and the next, Cyprus. I thought about doing tree-names. Names of gods seems like a good source as well. Perhaps using BBS names would be good too.
