I think name brand trash bags are better quality if you use large ones. Otherwise plastic grocery bags (Target is the best) are good enough for trash.
No difference. Some generics (foodstuffs) only carry a different label. ... So all total how much money did we save? The national brands cost us $41.54, while the generic products cost $27.47. That's a savings of $14.07 and more than 33%. Remember, we're talking about the exact same shopping list with only 14 items. I know what many of you are thinking. The generic brand isn't as good. Guess what? The secret is that many of the same ingredients in the better known national brands are also in the contents of their generic counter parts. Don't believe me? Well, we tested several products to see if shoppers can tell the difference between the name brand versus generic. ... http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/consumer&id=6171255
Just about everything I buy is generic. Generic prescriptions (except one for which there is no generic equivalent yet), generic OTCs and multivitamins, generic food, generic household cleaners... The exceptions being personal hygiene stuff and laundry stuff for me and DT, my cat gets name brand food and litter, and my car gets name brand products too.
Generics most of the time with some notable exceptions: For gas, either Shell 93 or Chevron 93. Laundry, Woolite or 7th Generation.
Google: private labelling From About.com: Definition: Products (or services) which are generally manufactured or provided by one company under another company's brand. I like to pamper myself. I like to tell myself there is a reason why I work 60 hours a week. That is why I choose Glad Extra Wide Seal Ziploc bags.
With this one quote that article loses all credibility. Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla is the bomb. Much, much better than Creamy Creations. Not even close. Not even in the same realm of possibility. No way, no how.
Alot of that stuff is the same though. When I used to drive the 18 wheeler, we used to pick up royal oak charcoal in royal oak,mo. Guess what else was made there? The walmart charcoal. Same for the wal mart water made at ozarka in hot springs ,ar. Alot of that generic save money on the cover or boxes.
Oh, I agree: for a store-brand, Creamy Creations is very good. But the 1904 Vanilla is nowhere near as good as BB Homemade Vanilla. BB Homemade Vanilla rules all.
I know an Endocrinologist that will cut you for making that claim, lol Seriously though, the FDA just ensures that the active ingredient is basically the same in the generic and brand, but thats it. Unfortunately, for some drugs, this is where the difference can occur. Bioequivalence is not everything.
Ice cream, blue bell, period. Although, once, at HEB, they gave me a free HEB ice cream for buying blue bell which wasnt that bad.
EXCEPTION: Blue Bell's rocky road is the most disappointing ice cream ever. It's chocolate ice cream with the occasional marshmallow mixed in.
I agree, but Creamy Creations Cookies-and-Cream is better than Blue Bell. Bigger cookie chunks, and I like the ice cream better. The high end store brand foods, especially at HEB, have gotten so good that I don't know why anyone buys the national brand on most things any more.
Agreed, I love Creamy Creations Cookies and Cream (would that be CCC&C?), and their chocolate chip (CCCC?) as well. But again, I'm just comparing the vanilla flavors, and for plain vanilla, BB wins hand-down. Anyone who says different is a commie socialist Jazz fan.
Ibuprofen is the exact same no matter which you buy. The generics are required to be the same outside of coloring and flavorings. Its all in your head. I buy most things generic. Sometimes the price difference is enough to sacrifice taste/quality, and sometimes the generics are equal or better. I've shown this picture before, but this was my cabinet a few months ago: Those GV Oreos were delicious. Highly recommend. Same with the toaster pastries. Generally I don't buy generic cereal, but the GV version of Special K Strawberries is good and the Kroger of honey nut cheerios(taste different, but good). Although I don't classify it as generic, Malt-O-Meal is a very good option. Their cinnamon toasters/Tootie Fruities are both awesome. And of course not all store generics are created equal. Walmarts and Krogers have been good, but Ingles and Harveys have sucked.
I was trying to remember who posted that pic. I remember my marketing teach did a little experiment on my class and brought Pop Tarts and the generic/store brand. She cut them up and made us taste each one. Out of 23 students in the class, 4 went with Pop Tarts while everybody else chose the generic/store brand.
