A-train, I was implying that he could live off of Francis, Yao and Mobley...as they drive they can dish to him as he cuts, or as a set shooter. My point is that the Rockets have all the leaders they need and that Boki would probably thrive if he was a complimentary piece and not the focus of the offense. DD
easy, easy... I was just in jest... I wasn't trying to compare RJ to Boki Just got to realize Boki is what he is, I don't expect him to be a star or a total wash out, he has alot to learn and he could become a good player one day. Then again he could never break into a regular NBA rotation, have to wait and see if he develops.
I've heard a lot about how Eddie had a good game last night but how was it any better than Boki's night? They both had identical stats. Boki seems to get judged strictly on his jump shot and not his all around game.
I think everyone liked Eddie because he played physical and inside. They saw a difference from last year. Boki didn't look improved. It wasn't about stats as much as how much improvement or difference a year can make. That's my opinion.
Piatkowski will make everyone forget about Boki. Eric is a lights-out shooter and is the outside threat we've been waiting for.
I did not get the game up here in Dallas so please break down his performance for me. Was he not hustling, playing defense, was he out of position a lot? What?
My heart aches for poor Boki.. I can tell from watching him play that: a) He knows how to play b) He has almost ZERO confidence right now c) He is playing with his head instead of his instincts d) He is giving perhaps TOO much effort, definitely pressing. What this all means to me is that he is trying too hard, and making himself look ten times worse than he is really capable of. I don't think it's a physical problem with him. He has the tools physically, heck he was even making some strong rebounding efforts out there last night (which is what you always hear the 'good' players say - when you are having an off night, you still find a way to contribute). It just looks to me like he is intimidated. He mentioned himself even before the draft that he grew up literally hero-worshipping these guys in the NBA. It's almost as though he does not yet believe that he should be able to play against these guys. So it's a mental thing with him - and JVG is doing the only thing that may be able to help Boki truly become accustomed to the idea that he actually belongs here in this league - and that is PLAYING. I believe that we will see HEAVY doses of Nachbar all the rest of this pre-season and possibly into the first few weeks of the regular season. Hopefully the light will come on and he will become a positive contributor to the team for a long time, worthy of a first rd pick. But like the man say, he's here all through next season anyway, so either way we have him. Best, imo, to wish him well, for our own sakes. And if not, then well, he'll have had his fifteen minutes, and be able to go back home and tell all the little fledgling capitalists how he once was a member of a team in the famous NBA.
I completely agree. He seems to have the necessary talent, but he always seems to be pressing to prove to the coaches that he can do it in games. While it's forgivable if he can overcome it down te road, it's also not a good sign at the same time that he cannot overcome some pressure and deliver when he needs to.
I hope Boki proves all the impatient fans wrong! I say this year will be the year he has to show his stuff or else he will be released for sure next year. But, after one preseason game, people are ready to cut him even though he showed hustle with some good rebounds, a nice slashing layup, and 2 nice jumpers off the dribble. Yes, he did make some turnovers, but who didn't? If that is the case, we should cut everyone on the team. Go Boki!
I think Boki has been a little snake bit too, he would make a play on defense then get the ball stripped. Or he would get good position down low then press his shot and get blocked. What is a concern is his confidence and his outside shot. I am not convinced he has the NBA quickness to bring his slashing game from Europe. He liked to slash and dunk in Europe and he has not shown that he can beat anyone off the dribble or the quickness, strength and handles to get in the lane for a lay up. Boki has some talent and with some development and confidence he could find a nice niche in the league, I hope soon and for us.
Too bad we can't send him to the USBL or Europe or somewhere to develop his game. If he could shoot better, I could see him being a Matt Bullard. If he could gain about 30 pounds of muscle, I could see him being our third string center or perhaps even third string power forward. I think we have an example of a guy whose whole career has been stunted by promiting him too fast to the big leagues.
Thank you very much. It pains me that there are very many stupid, unintelligent, puerile, fickle and comprehension challenged fans/contributors on this forum. This mentality is that which is common seen in the childish Jim Rome Show where the majority of his fervent listeners are technically Zombies. People are so lazy these day they fail to think and analyze things critically. It is a rule of thumb that no player gets to labelled a bust until he has enjoyed the same amount of PT given to Ryan Leaf. This Kid Boki played a grand total of about 80 minutes last season. His stats from last night are comparable to that of a 3rd year and game experienced Eddy but many stupid contributor of this thread failed to see that. Simply put, Boki needs time - Rudi and CD did a good job with the pick because I happy with the intangibles I have seen in him so far - but the jury is still out and I am confident he will deliver when he finally gets his feet ankle-deep wet through playing consistent and encouragement. Btw, 85.7% of the stupid contributors on this forum have so far posted on this thread. You know ya-selves.
Stupid contributors, stupid contributors. What ya gonna do, what ya gonna do, When Fegwu comes for you...
It's only his second year. By next year, if he doesn't do well, ten it's time to cut the line on him, and let his contract run out.
