NAACP holding true to their values. If Vick was white no one would care and he's be given a reward.

You're really going to try to argue that Jayson Williams or Ray Lewis are as big celebrities as Michael Vick and OJ Simpson? Yes, popularity is the determining factor for TV analysts. That's why Tom Tolbert and Jeff Van Gundy are TV analysts these days. Tom Tolbert must be as big a star as Michael Vick!

This just keeps getting more and more ridiculous. It's as though you are GW Bush and when the facts don't fit your argument, you just dig yourself deeper into a mess.

aside from the personal insults, we all know that race was a factor in the oj coverage. all of these cases can be evaluated on their own merrit, robert blake, was a celebrity, had his wife killed, did he receive as much coverage as vick

do you understand that defendants are prosecuted differently based on their intent?

listen...i'm not trying to argue with you. i'm honestly trying to understand your position...which i really don't "get."

i think a part of why the media is so interested in this is because of the legal consequences. because of the fact that a star QB may sit out a good part of his career behind bars. that's the "i can't look away/trainwreck" part of the story.

As stated in my post, we're talking about marquee names.

How many people know who Leonard Little is compared to Michael Vick?

I think the Vick thing has absolutely everything to do with race. Same like Barry Bonds, OJ, Mike Tyson, and even to a lesser extent Michael Jackson.

Thats not to say that I think African Americans turn a blind eye to any black criminal, just that even though they might think the guy did something wrong or is guilty, that the news coverage seems unwarranted and is only there because the perp is black.

I'm pretty sure there are hispanic legal immigrants out there who don't think illegal immigration is good but find themselves on the side of defending illegals all the time because of what they feel is unwarranted (whether real or not) actions or words by some politicians.

Likewise, while I feel that Chinese products are absolutely getting a too bright spotlight ont hem, but I certainly am appalled by the lack of ethics being displayed by some factory owners.

First, I didn't know who the hell Robert Blake was until the murder. I don't think anyone under 30 knows him or whatever show or movie he was on. Vick? I'm pretty sure 90% of males in the US know who he is.

Second, you guys need to realize that this is what pgabriel does. He steers the argument in a different direction when he realizes he's been contradicted. Pgabriel and everyone else hear has been using other cases as examples, but now he wants to take every case on it's own merit in a vacuum.

i think you people forget how much attention ray lewis, caruth, williams, actually got when those things happened.

The only difference is that vick incident incorporates a broader debate, i.e. animal right. Which is a side aspect of the story, not the story itself as it pertains to Vick. Its not like people were coming out and saying, its no big deal caruth killed his wife...people hunt deer all the time.

first of all since you responded to my post you can address me. second of all the reason for the comment is because major is the one who says one example disproves my argument.

you know what you're right only it hasn't been a debate, its been a public media lynching. but I actually agree with somewhat of what you say.
