Interesting correlation between education and outcome of the vote for this:

Interesting, but not surprising. Clearly, reality and education has a liberal bias.

Hint: It's not a vote for Obama, unlike some people might believe...

In reference to the marriage amendment, nothing, I was merely referring to bigtexx's post on the first page.

Given what Obama said today, it looks bad for him in NC. Poor guy is between a rock and a hard place on this issue and a flip flopper.

He also made history with his statement today, is now on the right side of the issue, and is the first President in the history of our nation to make a statement supporting same sex marriage. In addition he's ended Don't Ask Don't Tell.

And opened up a lot of previously denied rights to the LGBT community.

    A great day!

One "theory" about the success of this vote is that it was scheduled during a primary election when the only significant national contest was on the Republican side of the aisle-- thus impacting turnout of casual voters on both sides in different ways.

I think that played some role in it but according to NC polls more people turned out to vote on Tuesday than in the 2008 election so it is likely that there were more than just Republicans voting.

Interesting perspective. I must admit that I've never really considered whether gayz try to link to racialist.

2008 election: Approx 4.2 million votes

Gay marriage ban: Approx 2.1 million votes
2012 GOP Presidential Primary: 950,000 votes

So there were clearly a lot of voters for/against the gay marriage ban that didn't vote in the GOP Presidential Primary on the same day, but the turnout was nothing like the 2008 election.

If anyone wants to make this an election about who has more flip-flops. Obama wins in a landslide.

Well, that's not exactly the way I think the bible goes. Jesus said that he came not to abolish the old but to fulfill it. This puzzled the people he was talking to because they believed they were following the old law, but what they were doing was of course not the most humane loving way of being.

Jesus was telling them that he wasn't changing the old law, but that by following the letter of the law and not the spirit of the law they were missing something. Jesus showed that by love and mercy, that was the fulfillment of the law, and that by following strictly the letter of the law, the leaders of the faith didn't understand the law fully. Jesus showed that the fulfillment of that old law was not focusing on the judging of others, but the showing of love, mercy etc.

I think it's not that the old law was null, but that there was a different point.
