You dont have to worry that much, because most of the times the score is 1-0 or 0-0.

    Boring ass sport.

That said, I wouldn't mind going and watching Brazil take on Italy in the next world cup. Soccer is boring, but I loves me a big rivalry match.

Yeah Brazil versus Italy is a big rivalry

Ignorance indeed is beautiful in the eyes of the beholder.

I have an idea - why not focus on what you do best .....hint......FIRE JVG I and II. Seriously, have you contributed anything worth pausing for in this community? Have you really contributed an "original thought"....ever?

Go backto your ignorant ways - I apologize for even trying to talk sense into you.

P.S. Folks stop trying to be apologetic on this issue. Stop trying to explain your reason for not getting soccer. It is okay. Something similar happens somewhere in Trinidad & Tobago (Cricket) or Algeria (Soccer) where sports we hold dear to our hearts appear silly to them. Live and let live - if you can afford an open heart then give other sports a chance and if you feel it is not for you....fine - so be it.

hohoho...****wu strikes again with his wisdom!

I could care less what a big rivalry in soccer is. I know Italy and Brazil are two powerhouses. And my point was that I love rivalries.

Why don't you stop contributing so much to this board and go help Van Dummy? I heard he is out of toilet paper and needs help wiping his ass.

I don't understand why soccer fans have this need to defend their sport so much. Most Americans think soccer sucks...get over it! We don't think it's boring because it's low scoring, we think it's boring BECAUSE IT'S FREAKING BORING!

Americans are ignorant, soccer hating, violence loving, red meat eating fatasses...God bless the U.S.A.!

    yeah baby!!!!

I love cricket, but I don't see the need to defend it if someone insults it. I hate regular season baseball and some of my friends love it. But they also dont see the need to defend baseball when I insult it.

Its just soccer fans that think that every single person in the world should be a soccer fan.

WOW. An entire thread about soccer not having someone bash the Mexico team for the silly FIFA lottery seedings...? ;)
Wait, there IS the mention of the U.S. doing well in the 2002 cup, so there is my daily dose of "Mexico sucks"... :)
Uhhh... and yet, you Americans say that soccer fans are the most violent... wow...ironic, isn't it??
I will hate to see my Houston MLS team play boringly, but I will still watch them... even though, just like Rivaldo2181 says, it is better to watch the stars play the game instead of the scrubs here in the MLS.
NJRocket mentions this... it's Andrés Cantor in Telemundo who moved there to GET the World Cup but failed, and in Univision/Telefutura it's Pablo Ramirez, who chants "Goooool! Goooool! Goool!!!! Gooooo-LAZO! AZO! AZO! AZO!"

I was at the U.S. 0 - Mexico 0 game as well, Zacatecas... I was fearing many, many fights from sore losers (Mexicans only :)) if there was a 1-0 U.S. win.

Thank you for this thread. Don't feed the trolls, Zacatecas. Sincerely, Tamaulipas. ;)

    The reason I dislike soccer isn't because it's low-scoring.

It's because players have so little control over the ball. Control switches back and forth so quickly and so sloppiliy that the team strategy seems lost to me. This is also why I'm not a hockey fan.

The reason football and basketball are so popular in America is because, in addition to the physical challenges, they're much more strategic than soccer or hockey.

I dont like soccer, but I respect the others opinion, im tired of here in Mexico, they dont talk about other sports, only about soccer, well in a 60 minutes show, they talk 55 mins of soccer, and only 5 minutes about other sports (bball, fotball, baseball, etc)

I dont think is boring, I watch some games of the world cup, but not the league games. In soccer, they have plays very exciting (not only goals)

Well, thats my two cents. :)

Not true at all. The game is all strategy. It isn't just kick the ball down the field and everyone run after it like you played when you're 5. When I watch a game and see a goal, I like to rewind for about 5 minutes to see the buildup. It's much more than the ball hitting the back of the net. If you actually know anything about the game, you know that there is nothing but strategy. Just because we don't run plays doesn't mean there isn't some sort of game planning that goes into it. It's much more than what's happening with the player that has the ball. Watch what is happening away from the ball. Don't talk about strategy when you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about.

I don't understand why people need to troll every soccer thread.

And just so SwoLy-D doesn't forget, Mexico sucks. :)

Of course, it was a soccer fan that originally started the thread calling out people that don't like soccer...

actually, that's the best part of a soccer match...a good riot or a nice kick to the gonads. Ron Artest ain't got nothing on a soccer player who just got a red card...

I guess I should have clarified but I wasn't refering to anything in this thread since it's actually about people's opinions of soccer. I was refering to every other soccer thread that is started here.

Technically, if you want to argue with your scoring logic, you also have to consider time played. A football game is 60 minutes. A soccer game is 90. So the scoring is lower. Also, what about play-style? Football has organized plays every 45 or so seconds. Soccer is non-stop action, more like basketball. So a football comparison doesn't make much sense.

With all that said, I'm a big fan of soccer. I'm looking forward to MLS coming to our town. And I want to start a grass-roots campaign to have our new soccer team named ........ the HOUSTON OILERS!

Let's make that happen. Once again Houston will have a football (futbol) team named the Oilers. Won't that make Bud Adams happy?!?

I always used to follow the Edmonton Oilers just because of the name. I would love to have another team in Houston called the Oilers. Oil and Houston go hand an hand.

So...in this thread we have the 'soccer folks' complaining because people who don't like soccer 'troll', and 'have to point out they don't like soccer', 'have to bash soccer at every opportunity', etc. etc.

And yet, those same people quite easily state that the only reason folks don't like soccer is because they're 'ignorant', 'stupid', etc.

Gosh...who's really the defensive one here?!?

Here's something interesting; there are quite a few soccer programs in high schools across the US. Quite a few here in Texas. And yet, it never seems to get much further than that here.

Yeah, there are folks who don't care/don't want to learn about the game. But there are a lot of folks who have and have played and have spent a good portion of their young athletic careers playing it. And those kids' parents are in the stands, support the program, do the fundraiser thing, etc. etc.

And it still isn't very popular.

Just because you don't like soccer, doesn't automatically mean that person is simply 'ignorant' of it. Quit trying to make yourselves feel better that some people like different things than others. Stop trying to explain why some people don't like soccer and you do. It's okay.

    My goodness

This thread is for people to quit the Soccer Bashing Cliches. The point was, if you don't like soccer, don't instigate those who do live it.

Honestly every time someone says one thought about soccer, the soccer bashers find a way into the thread. This thread is different, because it's meant to point out an angry attitude of people towards Soccer. I just want people to think why they randomly bash soccer with cliches? It will tell that person more about themselves, it might even make you life a litte brighter in your everyday living.

If you don't like soccer don't watch it. If you want to sit down and debate soccer, "WHY?". Just stay away from it, there are a billion plus soccer fans, I don't think they need haters for haters sake.

    Long live athletics :p
