NBA should be able to levy HUGE fines on players for these types of trade demands with time on their contracts. You made the decision to sign the contract...nobody put a gun to your head...now play your heart out for the team that's paying you millions.
For public ones, They can can't they, but where's the demand? Right now, someone who knows someone who knows Chris Paul told a journalist he wants out.
According to HOOPSHYPE, NO not looking to trade Paul. They have stopped taking calls from other teams.
Hoopshype are just a news portal. The article was by Marc Stein/ESPN. Their stance could change after they meet Paul and his people today. They could also benefit from leaking news like this causing other teams to offer up much better proposals.
7-8 pages... not reading all that, but paul does have some say in where he goes. if the hornets wanted to trade with us but morey got word from paul that he doesn't have any desire to come here and would never resign here, what can you really do about that? it would be a bad PR move on his part for sure. maybe could work out a 3 team trade netting us another guy but in the end if he doesn't want to play here, even with all the persuading, the team can't do anything about that.
Lebron didnt have a supporting cast that could take up the slack when he had an off night. He wasn't going to win a ring with that group of guys.
Dude just calm down. 1. CP3 is bluffing. LBJ did it when he pretended he had an open mind on where to go, when the truth was he wanted to play with Wade and Bosh all along. CP3 is doing the same thing, except now he's insisting that he'll only play in Orlando or NY. What's important to Paul is that he gets paid and he wins. If you can put him on a winning team and he gets paid he'll probably be pretty happy. If we somehow end up getting him for cheap and we win two titles, I have a hard time believing Paul will jump ship to NY all of a sudden, esp. when the Knicks picks belong to us. 2. The Miami 3 kings will never be repeated, at least not by NY or Orlando. LBJ, Wade and Bosh all had to take a salary less than the max for them to be able to sign, and between the 3 of them they maxed out the cap. Amare, DH and Lewis are all already making the max. They'll only be able to get Paul via sign-and-trade, and unfortunately NY and Orlando don't have any attractive assets for NO to consumate a deal. 3. CP3 doesn't have a no trade clause in his contract. The situation is entirely different from LBJ and co. because those three were Free Agents. Sure he can dog it for two years, however two years is a long time, I'm sure CP3 has had enough of losing games in NO. More importantly he can't put up 10,3,2 and then suddenly demand a max contract when his two years are up. Right now the playoffs are fresh in everyone's minds and if you ask them to choose between Williams and Paul, they'll probably choose Williams. If CP3 dogs it for two years expect him to fade into obscurity. What does that do for his desire for max money then?
And Dream only ended up with two rings, which actually get questioned by other bball fans as the "rings won only because MJ left to play baseball". How's that for legacy? /end. Seriously DD, aren't the other LBJ threads in the dish enough for you? Let's not derail this topic about CP3 and the Rockets with talk about Lebron.
