Emo kids. Will they ever learn? For the first time in my life, I talked to an emo kid the other day. You wouldn't realize it at first (I couldn't place the clique), but she was indeed emo.

First, let me preface; I don't know what it's like in other places, but since there aren't a whole lot of emo kids around where I live, they end up loitering at the mall.

Anyway, this one is 13 who looks at least 16. She's got an 18 year old boyfriend. Hates her parents because they (the mother is a born-again Christian as of the past few months) want her to wear pink makeup instead of black. Her boyfriend was kicked out of school for getting in a fight and then kicking the headmaster all within the first hour of being enrolled (from her words). Her boyfriend decided against enrolling back in school, but instead went into business...dealing drugs.

Let's see, what else...


Oh, she listens to crappy music, claiming a band like My Chemical Romance (?) is incredible, yet she had never heard of Led Zeppelin. Drinks moderately. Has done drugs "only once or twice". She has a mySpace.

Oh and the clincher: she has indeed cut herself on her arm (hence the long sleeves). Why? "I was kind of bored."

I sure hope there are metal detectors at emo conventions.

I tell ya, this country is going to ****. Can we make these people useful? Can we put them in sweatshops? Can we send them to Canada???
