McDyess would be a solid addition to any team but I have a hard time believing a "win now" type player like him would so willingly sign with us now after the news about Yao.

I agree. Furthermore, unless Yao is going to play the majority of the season, we dont really need this old man. He would be a good backup for Yao, but I'd rather have someone else if Yao is going to be down most/all of the season.

Agree. He would definetly want to go to a contender.

McDyess is not bad, but if the Rockets are going to need a long-term insurance/replacement for Yao, a younger guys like the Polish Hammer would be preferable to Overgrown Tommy Davidson.

But there are multiple suiters for all of these guys-- McDyess, Sheed, Gortat, etc. so you take what you can get.

was he part of the iverson trade last year? but them immediately bought-out by denver and returned to detroit?

dont have the trade in front of me, just assumed that's what he was referring to.

This is my exact thoughts! I think Gortat's stock is high right now, and he may get a contract over his true value.

Agreed. Also, if yall are worried about keeping players healthy, yall are going to pull every strand of your hair out if we acquire Camby. This guy is a walking injury. Every year, with the exception of 07-08 (79 games played), he has had significant injuries where he has missed big chunks of the season. HELL NO to him, unless you want to continue the injury curse for the Rockets.

I'll take Gortat over McDyess. He has better size and blocks shots. This team is good chemistry wise so it isn't like we need McDyess for experience or maturity as much as we need size. And if you need a lockdown defender at PF we already have the best in the league in Hayes. Plus, at 34, McDyess could and probably will fall off dramatically at any moment.

Didn't we have this conversation in 1999?

Who gave his team 10/10 last season. Count me as someone who'd love to have him, but only if we can contend for a championship. That looks highly unlikely now.

Ixnay on the Astros way. Stop gap measures only slow down the rebuilding. I guess the Rockets are hoping Yao won't miss too many games, but it's inevitable that he re-injures himself, and probably at the worst time.

They can want Dyess, but why would he want to come here? Gortat is young,so he might have some incentive instead of a veteran who wants a title like Dyess.
Waste of time by the Rockets. The quicker they can move on,the better it will be for everyone, including Yao Ming.

No to McDyess for a number of reasons, but mainly because anyone that gets into an on-court scuffle with Hakeem Olajuwon should not be wearing a Rockets jersey. Ever.

If Hakeem doesn't like him, then I don't like him either.
