Spicy in Indian food doesn't bother me. I just can't deal with the combination of flavors. Even the smell eeks me out a little. I have friends who have tried to get me to like it and I've tried eating it with no success so far.

OK. I'm just saying...next time you want to see if you can handle Indian food, go to Bombay Sweets. It's da bombolina.

How much is Bombay Sweets paying you for all these positive reviews? :D

Has anyone been to that London Sizzler Tandoori Bar and Grill on Hillcroft by any chance? It is British style Indian food. I hear good things about it from time to time.

So where's the best stuff in Houston? I like Biba's on West Gray, but it's probably processed meat and far below standard. I don't like Niko Niko's at all, if that's a semblance of redemption.

They are hit or miss, I find. Some things amazing (fish masala sizzler), some things decent, some not so memorable. Also, a lot doesn't really seem to be UK style so I don't get that.

Overall, Indian restaurants in Houston have gone downhill in the last 5 or so years.

    Sadly, there's not.

If you want the best gyro, go get Niko's pitas & sauce, then go to a Turkish place and get the doner kebab meat & combine.

The "meat" at Niko's and most Greek places these days is that nasty processed block.

For traditional Greek food, again sadly, the best place is now maybe YiaYia Mary's - and that's a stretch to call it traditional. I would have said Alexander the Great's behidn the Galleria, but that place has changed owners & chefs so I don't know wtf might be going on there anymore.

Anyway, Houston has always sucked for good, traditional Greek food. Look, Niko Niko's is "authentic" in that the place is owned by Greeks, but so much of the menu is just not what you would ever find in Greece or even the Greek towns in Chicago, Detroit, and NYC...

Oh, and unless you are completely wasted, you should never eat at Biba's.
