I know another move Yao does that the refs could call travelling on. It's when he's in the high post and pump fakes the defender into jumping and then he drives to the hoop. He always moves his pivot foot which is usually his left, as he drives for the hoop. Have you guys noticed that?
That was the first time I've ever seen Yao doing a left spin, which was not as smooth but still powerful.
If they seldom call foul on Shaq's bulldose move after years of complaint from opponents, they won't call Yao's hooking.
Yao has been called for hooking and I am pretty sure it has happened several times. Apparently he drew a lesson from it and now when he is doing the spinning thing. Yes, he still stretches his right arm over leaving his opponent behind him but that's just to keep balance. I can tell he didn't try to block his oppenent with his right arm. And the referees can tell too.
I'm always concerned with the refs calling him for palming the ball as he is dribbling behind the back and doing cross over moves on his prey... or was it all a dream?................
I've seen this a few times, but he is rarely called for traveling on that. He moves both feet when pump-faking before he dribbles, but apparently it's not that noticeable in person.
