I would be shocked. It was a good movie but not oscar nomination material. Perhaps for some special effects.
Yeah. The only non-lame movie will probably be Barber Shop. P.S.: Training Day sucked. That movie is terrible.
Why do you say that? I thought it was ok, I saw it on cable though, I didn't waste a movie ticket on it. There haven't been any movies that actually jumped out at me this year as Oscar worthy. But somebody has to win... Juan - that is just wrong. Face Off/The Rock/Leaving Las Vegas/Con Air/Gone in 60 Seconds. None of those appealed to you at all?
I think The Rock is probably is last Nic Cage movie that I thoroughly enjoyed, even though The Family Man wasn't all bad because of Jeremy Piven, but I have high hopes for Adaptation. BTW, my predictions are as follows: The Two Towers, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Catch Me If You Can, The Hours, Far From Heaven.
The Rock and Face/Off were genuinely enjoyable popcorn flicks (if you're into that sort of movie....I enjoyed them). As for truly good movies though, I definitely think Leaving Las Vegas is right up there.
Man, I thought I was the only one who didn't think "Training Day" was the greatest thing since Denise Richards' body. My roommate walks around randomly spouting off lines. "This **** is chess, it ain't checkers." - brilliant writing. how witty. "King Kong, ain't got ****, on me!" -ummm, yes. its so fresh. so clever. makes me wet myself.
My fearless, insanely early, and stupid predictions (yes, based on movies I haven't seen): Best movie: Gangs of New York (based on hype) LOTR: The Two Towers Adaption Road to Perdition Far From Heaven Best Actor: Jack Nicholson, About Schmidt Tom Hanks, Road to Perdition Nicholas Cage, Adaption Robin Williams, One Hour Photo Adam Sandler, Punch Drunk Love Best Actress: Julianne Moore, Far From Heaven Salma Hayek, Frida Maryl Streep, Adaption Jennifer Aniston, The Good Girl Nicole Kidman, The Hours Best Director: Martin Scorsese, Gangs of New York Peter Jackson, LOTR: The Two Towers (loses again... ) Spike Jonze, Adaption Julie Taymore, Frida Road to Perdition, Sam Mendes Best Special Effects: LOTR: TTT (beats out Episode II ) Best Score: LOTR: TTT Best Original Screenplay: My Big Fat Greek Wedding Best Adapted Screenplay: Chicago Best Animated Feature: Ice Age (or possibly Spirited Away)
How about the 2004 Oscars? Anyone got any predictions for that yet? Don't believe the hype, see the movies first.
