No use trading to the top, when you got the white Magic Johnson and a younger Hakeem to create a new dynasty.

Also, Khan has a personal stack in getting Rubio to the team since he has caught so much hell for how he has handled this situation. He probably wouldn't take a package with Aaron Brooks at this point. That is why he sucks as a GM.

The thing is Rubio holds a lot of leverage. He can just wait it out and say he ain't comin and keep making big money in Europe. He IS the megastar overseas. In another year or two, he will be even bigger. All he's got to do is keep playing and telling Minny he ain't coming.

Rubio has been warming up to Minnesota lately and might even look forward to playing for the Timberwolves.

Like BimaThug already posted, Kahn is extremely high on Rubio and is there is absolutely no chance he trades him unless a star is heading back there way.

Because Rubio > Brooks as far as potential goes. I don't know why you're claiming he's a terrible GM when he's only been around for a year.

Are we allowed to simply make things up now?

I would only trade up if Favors was available and I doubt he'd be available to Minnesota. I'm not too high on trading away pieces that could be put to good use now than getting Rubio (who isn't coming over next season) and 4th pick means we could be getting Cousins or whoever Morey thinks is best available (IF that was the scenario). It's kinda too risky IMO because draft picks can be stars or be complete bust and I don't think Jefferson is good fit for us... too high maintenance.

I wonder if New Jersey is willing to deal with us?

There was a ESPN Insider a couple weeks ago stating New Jersey wanted to keep their pick, I don't subscribe to that, but someone might have access to that article, and today the ESPN Insider is stating that the Timberwolves want to keep their pick. I'm thinking the lowest draft pick we could get is from the Kings

What DD was saying is true. Cousins showed up out of shape. It was big news.

Maybe because he drafted a player who had no desire to play for that franchise -- and still doesn't. Or maybe because he compounded that by drafting another PG with the very next pick -- all while passing on Jennings and Steph Curry. For a team desperate for talent on the wing, you would think they would've gone with Derozan or Curry after selecting Rubio ... at least Steph has a chance to play SG. Flynn has 0% chance.

He wasn't over 20% body fat. Not even close, really. And if anything, he's been impressing in the workouts.

    NBA Draft analysis

DeMarcus Cousins 292 lbs and 16.4 percent body fat show that he hasn't been putting any work in on his cardio. Cousins' 16.4 % body fat was second only to Dexter Pittman's and is alarming to scouts. Considering there are concerns about his attitude and willingness to work hard, this is an additional red flag.

OK, so it was not quite 20%......but those pictures were pretty bad too, he was significantly heftier in his draft pics than his playing picks at UK.

    AlexKennedyNBA from Hoopsworld, tweeted this:

Just got off the phone and all I can say is Thursday will be crazy. Take everything that you think will happen and throw it out the window.

Fair enough. It just seems inept to draft Rubio and then conduct the rest of the draft as he did. It also seems short sighted to pick up Darko and play him minutes at the expense of Kevin Love. Maybe you are seeing something in Khan I am not, but I don't see any positives. Enlighten me.

If you were the NJ Nets, would you have taken Kobe Bryant? Or a guy who's willing to play like Kerry Kittles?

If you were the Charlotte Hornets, would you have kept Kobe Bryant? Or traded him for Divac?

Honestly, Kobe didnt have a choice. He didnt have euro ball to fall back on. If in your evaluation it told you kobe could be a superstar, you draft and keep him. Personally, i still dont see why the rubio hype and i've watched alot of his games, but if you think people will give up the ship for him,it was a great move. I think flynn is going to be a helluva player.

I'm not sure this comparison really works. It's different when you're dealing with international players, as they can and have often chosen to stay overseas. Rubio was all about the NBA.. then Minnesota drafted him.. and suddenly he signed a three year deal in Europe. I don't think that was a coincidence. Kahn should have either drafted him and traded him (Steve Francis, Eli Manning, etc.) or looked for help elsewhere. And that doesn't even come close to explaining his logic in taking a 5'10 backup PG with the very next pick -- especially when he made all these assurances to Rubio he would be the starting PG after he drafted him.

A better Inside look into one the players the rockets might look to trade up for in the draft, Demarcus Cousins...
