Yeah...Kobe and CBud are nothing alike. Neither are Cousins and Miller.

Might as well compare CBud to Scalabrine because he is a light skinned white dude.

Sure he is, because all star voting is a popularity contest, and Chase plays with Yao.

Kobe and Budinger are not the same because Kobe is the Black Mamba and not the Black Joe Johnson.

CBud still isn't Hornacek. If you can see what he's going to be, the other GMs can, too, and they can offer value for him. If they're not offering based on what you hope him to be, it's because he might not get there.

I'm trying to remember somebody from the Nuggets that I used to hate, back in the Alex English days. He became a coach for a while. He wasn't a Hornacek type, more a hustle guy.

Bill Hanzlik, that was the guy I used to hate.

If being an old-timer makes you right, maybe I win the argument.

I think you meant to say "clouds" your perspective. ;)

    TR Dunn?

Or Bill Hanzlik - the guy that used to irritate Ralph Sampson, and that makes you somewhat of an old timer.

But I go back to much earlier than that....

First, I want to pay you a compliment. Your posting quality has improved exponentially over the past year. Whereas you tended to let your emotion guide you, oft foolishly, in past, you seem to be more tethered to reality now. The passion for our team is still there, but it's tempered with more reasoning now. Kudos.

Let me impart this probability: Let's say that Morey and staff have been tracking Cousins for the past 12 months or more. This is quite likely, given that their job relies heavily on making informed decisions on players. So, let's say they've been tracking DeMarcus and they see an upward trend in his motivation, footwork, HEALTH, post play, and love for the game. These are, after all, crucial elements in a young player's development. Should all of those variables come out as positives, do you still hold to not trading #14 + CBud for him?

NBA common wisdom is that you always...ALWAYS...trade small for big, given equal talent. That Cousins has talent is undeniable. No one would argue otherwise. Should he "grade high" on the other crucial variables, it becomes less of a matter of would we do it, and more a matter of "what other GM hasn't done their due diligence and is reluctant to take on Cousins?".

To me, it's simple. If Cousins has displayed wavering commitment for the past 12+ months, you pass on that deal. Odds are, if he hasn't dedicated himself pre-NBA, he won't do it post-multi-million-dollar contract. However, should the team have done their jobs in tracking what is undoubtedly a supremely talented player and seen the requisite "fire", it becomes time to kiss the Cousins and clip the Bud.

The guy showed up out of shape at the NBA pre draft workouts, over 20% body fat, noticably fatter than just a month or so earlier when he finished in the NCAA tournament.

That does not show committment to me.

I don't know what to think about Cousins, so I would pass.....no 2 for one for a player that risky for me.

Sounds like Hanzlik. Oh, and how I would love an English or a Walter Davis on this team. The Greyhound!!!

I remember Hannah Storm asking Doug Moe in the playoffs, "So coach, do you think you can steal the next one?"

Interesting. Were there mitigating circumstances? Was he injured prior to the workouts? By all accounts, he has obliterated his competition in workouts, so I have to wonder if perhaps he was heavier before, but "rounding" back into shape now.

I would take a shot at him if it was just picks or a redundant player involved.

If it was 14 and Trevor, or Shane, or Hayes, or Jeffries...sure.....

But not any of our young pieces outside of maybe Taylor, we are going to need them going forward.

These facts make me a little wary of him, too---how can you show up fat for the major "interview" of your life? But I think he showed up at 16% bodyfat. Which is still three or four trips to IHOP too many.

Personally, other than favors, monroe, wall, and turner, i dont see the need or want to jump up and give up players and picks. If i cant get al jefferson via trade, they should just draft the best big and move forward. You're not beating La with either of them in the next 3 yrs anyway.

Look at it this way, is cousins or monroe going to be better than bynum or bosh in 3 yrs? Where will yao be in 3 yrs? I think hill, brooks, and chase will be better than brown, artest, fisher, and some of those guys, but kobe will probably still be the best player on the floor. So where does that take me? Back to my original point, take the best big and move forward. If yao stays healthy, give him a 3 yr deal. Offer scola a 3 yr deal. Give lowry his 1 yr deal. Maybe hill, brooks, chase, and the draft pick are good enough to the point brooks is mentioned as the best player not to make all stars, hill is splitting time and really pushing a 32 yr old scola, chase is making the oft injured martin trade bait, and the young big is keeping yao to 25mins a night.
