Bud is more guaranteed because he has a year in the NBA, and hasn't flopped.

Bud is guaranteed to be a roleplayer and these new players aren't.

    How do people say this?

Was Aaron Brooks guaranteed to be a role player after his rookie year?

Cbud had a GREAT rookie year...better than a lot of current STAR players.

There is no guarantee that Chase is anything, he is already a role player at the age of 22 and will probably get better.

Is he a superstar? Not now !

Could he be, he has just as good a chance of doing that as everyone in this draft.

Because CBud has been productive IN THE NBA, these other guys sure could become stars, or they could be busts, they are not even guaranteed to be NBA role players.....

I think we have a glut at the SF position but I would trade any of them over CBud...he just fits this team so well, and will only get better.

Well ya in a perfect world.

This draft is stacked. One that could net us an all-star caliber player.

Or we could pick up another Eddie Griffen.

There are no guarantees......you don't give up GUARANTEED players for maybes.

Sure you can give up veterans like Shane or Trevor, but not Cbud.....

If he had such a great year why didn't he make All rookie team or All star rookie?

Because he had a GOOD season for a rookie. Nothing spectacular. You're setting him up to fail DD. Remember you jinx your man crushes.

    Doh!

I did not read closely enough the post to which I was responding.

A player loses a lot of his risk when he actually makes it through his first season and does well. I like Bud, but I think his potential is less than that of at least the first 10 picks of the draft, probably 15. Having said that, I'd wager that he will have a better career than at least three of those 15 players. I just couldn't say which ones.

Jinxes are for the weak minded people.

How is Aaron Brooks doing these days? What about Corey Maggette, meh...never mind...

And he was very good as a rookie....very efficient.....in small amounts of minutes.

He had the best rookie year of any Rockets draft pick since Yao Ming......

    Joey Dorsey then?

    ;)

He is going to be a starter really soon, Trevor and Shane will be put in the slow lane as Chase blows right by.

I would rather keep CBud than Ariza and Battier, but really, it depends on what the offer is. I wouldn't hesitate to include CBud in a trade for, say, a top-7 pick, providing DM is doing the picking, and not me.

No way......outside of the top 3 or 4, there is just as high a chance of a bust as there is a star......

From 5 onward it is a crap shoot........

I think the Rockets will be trying to win NOW with Yao.....at least this year, and any rookie is not really going to help that much.

    I would rather trade down.....

I suspect your druther is going to be the end result, and the guy stashed.

I just think that with Yao's situation that the team will lace them up and go at it one more time.....

And stash future assets in case he can't recover.

Yes, Cbud is the new and improved V-span crush. Brandon Roy could be out there and you wouldn't dump Cbud for him.

That is just stupid....I would easily trade Cbud for Brandon Roy.

Roy is a proven NBA player......

As for VSpan, what I said about him has been blown so much out of proportion it is not even funny...all I ever said was the team wasn't going anywhere and they should play him to find out if he was part of the future, because Rafer sucked...

    Oh well.

I don't see trading down. The Rockets have enough good players to fill the roster. I see the Rockets either trading up or out. They can buy a pick if there is someone worth it in 2nd, but think the Rockets are in asset consolidation mode right now.

Question: Bud + #14 is worth what pick? #5? #6?

I know what DD, after having the Heimlich performed on him, will say...

I would have no problem trading 14 + the Knicks picks for a high pick, just not a quality rising asset for a maybe.

That's not the question. What would it take, of this year's picks, to get you to give up Bud and #14?

    #3? #2?
